Electronic Repair Possible?

Dear Thaivisa members,

My 10 year old son impatiently plugged in a US battery charger for one of his favorite toys in Thai current. The charger is for the special battery that goes in the toy. The charger doesn't work now. Where can I get this charger re-wired? Any experience or advice?

Thank You

Yikes. When that happens more than just the wiring needs repair/replace. You don't say where you are in Thailand, but just exactly what is the "special" battery. You might be able to find a Thai equivalent to the battery and charger. Otherwise, maybe you can find on the internet and order a new charger sent to Thailand. Sorry, I know what you mean....110 vac and 220 vac just don't mix. :o

I hope the charger has a label giving output voltage and current capacity?

If so head to the electrical shops in China Town where you will be able to buy a new

charger for a few hundred baht.

A friend of mine had three 110v re-chargeable drills.

All three chargers got zapped on 240v.

I took them into the local repair man and he repaired them all.

I bought a charger here for 100 baht which has variable output voltage. It is 500Ma which should be enough for a toy.

It also has 5 output plugs to fit most uses.
