they have to be guilty before u post them. either in the paper or convitcted. At least i hope so. i trust u beleive u r right. but these rules for protecting peoples identity are here for a reason. i don't want my picture put up in another case that might be mistaken identity which ihave seen happen to a m8 of mine who was wrongly accused of a crime in england. had his name and photo in the paper. they released him and caught the reall rapist. he is on medication now 13 years after because of that

I have asked that question from Admin, when we were talking about the guys collecting for the army.Legally you can't do that, unless as Big C said, they have been tried & convicted, or it's a reproduction from a trustworthy news source. Leaves us exposed to liability.

There is another debate about posting pics, however innocent they might be, say of random folk walking about or children, you must have their permission.

I couldn't believe it when i came back to stay in November that they were STILL doing this, but as mentioned they say it's for a hospital now. One day the older guy came in to the bar i was in and started waffling on and i politely declined to donate anything. I moved bars and 20mins later here they were again....right up to me asking the same that they had done just 20 mins earlier! I can't type what my reply was but lets just say it certainly wasn't polite like the first time

Yes i think they do make money out of it seeing they've been doing this for months. I've sat and observed them whether they're in the bar pestering people trying to eat lunch or out in the street and i see many people handing over money. So, scam or no scam they do get mony out of it. The old guy puts on the polite, pleasant old man type of act whilst the bigger younger guy (who is probably in his 40's anyway) i think is basically acting as his gorilla in case of any problems arising with anyone. It's up to each individual i suppose but i give them nothing.

That description is right on and they're the same ones I saw on the beach. The big guy just smiles and keeps back, obviously the muscle. Too bad most of Samui's scammers happen to be Brits !

Yeah, you're probably correct there. Maybe there's more but they all have their own designated areas to work, but so far i've only saw the two we have already mentioned. Funny enough i saw them yesterday from a distance walking along the road and i really wanted to go and tell them they have their very own thread on here but i was on the phone. By the time i came off they were gone...next time then

It's common sense at the end of the day.

I'll always put my change in the Haiti, Tsunami, Red Cross boxes in 7-11s etc and bars where i know the proprietor.

If you're silly enough to hand your cash over to a stranger then more fool you.. but I do agree these people

should be stopped if they really are scamming!

Any chance of getting a photograph or two of the back of them so we can't see their faces but get a general idea of them???

These guys have been around for ages now, doing this.

It's not fanciful they could fleece tourists for about 2000 Bht a day.

That's 60,000 Bht a month.

For 6 months, that's 360,000 Bht. Not bad.
