February 18, 201016 yr Roo if anybody gets a picture of these vultures can they post it ? Just want to clarify before hand Cheers they have to be guilty before u post them. either in the paper or convitcted. At least i hope so. i trust u beleive u r right. but these rules for protecting peoples identity are here for a reason. i don't want my picture put up in another case that might be mistaken identity which ihave seen happen to a m8 of mine who was wrongly accused of a crime in england. had his name and photo in the paper. they released him and caught the reall rapist. he is on medication now 13 years after because of that

February 18, 201016 yr Roo if anybody gets a picture of these vultures can they post it ? Just want to clarify before hand Cheers I have asked that question from Admin, when we were talking about the guys collecting for the army.Legally you can't do that, unless as Big C said, they have been tried & convicted, or it's a reproduction from a trustworthy news source. Leaves us exposed to liability. There is another debate about posting pics, however innocent they might be, say of random folk walking about or children, you must have their permission. Hope that clarifies the matter.

February 18, 201016 yr I do not sugest anything. From the D.O.P Website. http://www.doe.go.th/service3_en.aspx1. Definition "Alien" means a natural person who is not of Thai nationality; " Work " means to engage in work by exerting energy or using knowledge whether or not in consideration of wages or other benefits. Fair point. It doesn't take the usage of any much knowledge to post here at all, but that is fairly subjective and destined to the authorative interpretation. You are hereby warned, and good night. Again Sean, you are sat on your backside after clearly showing you have virtually no knowledge of anything thailand related.

I really dislike extra-terrestials who pass judgement on planet Earth. Your next holiday destination: the planet Zogg, where they all wear blinkers. You should fit in great! February 19, 201016 yr These guys have been doing this for months now! When i was here in April they were at it, collecting for school kids they said but i had my doubts so declined to give them anything. I couldn't believe it when i came back to stay in November that they were STILL doing this, but as mentioned they say it's for a hospital now. One day the older guy came in to the bar i was in and started waffling on and i politely declined to donate anything. I moved bars and 20mins later here they were again....right up to me asking the same that they had done just 20 mins earlier! I can't type what my reply was but lets just say it certainly wasn't polite like the first time

Yes i think they do make money out of it seeing they've been doing this for months. I've sat and observed them whether they're in the bar pestering people trying to eat lunch or out in the street and i see many people handing over money. So, scam or no scam they do get mony out of it. The old guy puts on the polite, pleasant old man type of act whilst the bigger younger guy (who is probably in his 40's anyway) i think is basically acting as his gorilla in case of any problems arising with anyone. It's up to each individual i suppose but i give them nothing.
February 19, 201016 yr Which area of Samui do these chumps operate? Can't wait for them to come into my bar!!!!

Too bad most of Samui's scammers happen to be Brits !
February 20, 201016 yr I've saw them along the main one way stretch on Chaweng beach road. They just seem to walk along one side then cross over and come back on the other...but mind you, as Crusty says he's saw them on the beach too so i guess they'll go anwhere to hope to find gullible tourists to prey on...and i bet there's plenty of them

Yeah, you're probably correct there. Maybe there's more but they all have their own designated areas to work, but so far i've only saw the two we have already mentioned. Funny enough i saw them yesterday from a distance walking along the road and i really wanted to go and tell them they have their very own thread on here but i was on the phone. By the time i came off they were gone...next time then
February 21, 201016 yr It's common sense at the end of the day. I'll always put my change in the Haiti, Tsunami, Red Cross boxes in 7-11s etc and bars where i know the proprietor. If you're silly enough to hand your cash over to a stranger then more fool you.. but I do agree these people should be stopped if they really are scamming!
February 21, 201016 yr Any chance of getting a photograph or two of the back of them so we can't see their faces but get a general idea of them???
February 21, 201016 yr So you have absolute proof they are scam artists? Please folks, let's not jump too quickly to assumptions of guilt. Kanagroo courts are plentiful already, let's please not add another one to the list. yes how can you really know ? dont jump before you do know after all who in their right minds would try this on in thailand, for what a few baht, lets face it how much would they even make in los doing this, surely there are more simple scams with bigger profits than this, i would say they were genuine

It's not fanciful they could fleece tourists for about 2000 Bht a day. That's 60,000 Bht a month. For 6 months, that's 360,000 Bht. Not bad. Edited February 21, 201016 yr by screamingeagle
February 21, 201016 yr I have some friends who shall be on your beautiful island around the 15th of March. I shall warn them about these guys.

It's cowardly!!
