Trouble is the 20% discount is off "expensive" full fares. If your time is your own, wait for the "real" sales.

I bought a Chiang Mai to BKK back in July 2009 return for 2 for Baht 2,204 departure date Jan 29th return 2nd Feb so High season. In their so called sale depart March 24th return March 30th it is now Baht 5,772.00 on chosen flight . Some bargain. I have not seen anything like a real sale since booking my tickets back in 2009. Especially the one which read "Better than FREE seats"

where is the discount?

yes, wait for the real sale.

this sale is a bit corny.

the price has been jacked up by more than 100% before being discounted by 20%. :)

airasia runs ads on tv and on-line often.

problem is, when these ads are on, one canNOT gain access on-line to book the promotion tickets.

worst still, if one gets on-line, be very very careful as often enough , when it comes to making credit payments with all your personal credit card details, one thing or another will go wrong as experienced and reported here in thaivisa by thaivisa memebrs AND IN OTHER ASIAN FORUMS..

what can go wrong?

airasia may reject your payment after you in-put your credit CARD details.

1. an "ERROR" screen will pop out on you making your booking impossible.

2. your password gets fuzzled and you cannot book the flight no matter how you try to book the flight or Your password or user id suddenly is "not valid " anymore.

3. disgruntled short-chamged, overworked underpaid staff will one way or another sabotage your booking.

4. important details are hidden somewhere whereby some where somehow, you never get to book the cheapset flight available as advertised.

suggestion:

try booking now the most advertised taipei for RM99 (ringgits) of klcc or even the tianjin , china flights.

you end up with all kinds of different fares on screen after logging in and never really get to book the amazing airfares!

just beware of sabotage - especially when any company pay their staff peanuts to expect work excellence out of them.

heard of the peter principle?

better still, caveat emptore!/buyer beware!

thaivisa forum is not the only source of many travllers woes with airasia.

besides, airASIA IS NOT THE ONLY BUDGET AIRLINE IN THIS REGION.

THE MANY SMALLER NATIONAL AIRLINES IN SE ASIA OFFER JUST AS CHEAP IF NOT,GOOD FARES AND BETTER SERVICES - WITHOUT HIDDEN COSTS MOSTLY - UNLIKE AIRASIA!!!

or, more importantly, beware of some crook or whosoever- may- be who is ever ready ready to steal your private details and credit card numbers and compromise the at your expense.

Note that you only get this if you login to the Malaysian site in English.

...besides, these flights are hardly available when you go on-line to book them

try booking the =line for the present promotions.

it 's all crap, really.

Can you list some of the other discounters and their websites?  I only know Nok Air and 1-2-go.
