Tourist Visa For Uk Or Family Visa

Featured Replies

Hello all forum users.

I have a visa query and was wondering if you could offer some advice.

My Thai wife and I live in the UK but would like to bring my wife’s younger sister who is 21 over for a six month visit as she has just finished uni. Now is the best time for her to visit before she secures a full time job and unable to travel.

The query is we were going to apply for a Tourist visa but I have recently heard that there is such a thing as a Family visa and I’m not too sure what the requirements are.

If anyone could offer any advice it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks a million!!!

You require a family visit visa as she is her sister.

If you require professional help we have an office in the UK/Thailand and can process the whole application for you.

The significant difference between a general visit visa and the Family Visit Visa is that the latter application attracts a right of appeal against refusal, so there have to be pretty cast-iron reasons for refusal.

Before you decide you need the services of an agent, have a look at the application form and the supporting information:-

The principal consideration in granting a visit visa to an unattached 21-year-old female, uni graduate or otherwise, will be whether there is adequate evidence of plans to return and work in her own country.

Just out of interest, is there any difference in cost between a visitor's visa and a family visa?

Assuming that by 'family visa' you mean a family visit visa, then no, the fee is the same.
