i need to get a car fuel pump into thailand--------------the dealer says he cant order from uk--------am i right in assuming i have to pay a lot of tax---------is there a legal way of avoiding the tax--------the part uk value is about £200

Easiest way would be for a friend to buy it for you and send it as a gift,then it should be fine....

I a sure someone will tell me this is not the case,but its worked ok for me on bits and bobs.

Had a Fiat Punto. Fuelpump failure, the dealer in Bangkok want to import from Italy. Price was about 7'000 Baht. Time 14 days. But i bought the fuelpump in Woratchack, Chinatown, They had in stock, for the same price. So dealers not charge that much, Tax is 60% on the salesprice in Europe. Buy they not import just your item. They collect orders and order for example once a month. Otherwise ytou go and try to get it in Woratchack.

I was just thinking about the same. have had some od cars in Europe, and usually it was more easy to get parts like electric fuel pump from Bosch, AC Delco or Denso. After all they supply 95% of the el fuel pumps in the world.
