Bring My Existing Maranz Receive To Thailand?

Featured Replies

Looking for some help please. I live full time in Thailand and I have returned to Australia for a short holiday. Am thinking of bringing my old Marantz receiver back to Thailand to set up a home theatre in the spare room. Also going to bring my Panasonic dvd recorder with me which only weighs approx. 4.2 kgs.

Receiver is quite old. model number is SR6200 but delivers a good sound but weight is aprrox. 13kgs.

So if I bring it back I may end up paying excess baggage as I also need to bring back clothes, cd's, dvd's etc. So I am not sure whether it is worth bringing the existing receiver with me and possibly (likely) paying excess baggage or do I buy a new receiver in Thailand?

So am I likely to pick up a reasonable quality receiver in Thailand (Pattaya or Surin) at a reasonable price or should I consider bringing the Marantz back with me? If someone could suggest some good brands and likely prices that would also help a lot.

Any helpful replies are much appreciated.

They sell Marantz here if you would like to continue with them, prices are generally higher than back West for all hifi with a few exceptions.
