Passport For My Jeep

Featured Replies

I want to get a book that allows me to cross borders in my Jeep and I believe it is gotten from the Land Transportation office in Bangkok.

Has anyone done this?

What do I need to take with me to get one?

Thanks

Dan

P.S. Also how long is it valid? :)

Was several time in Cambo, and never need a "passport" for a car (don't even know what's this). U need the blue book and a copy af this, that's all. Car should be in your name or in the drivers or some passengers name. I mean you can't drive somebodys car for crossing the border, if they aren't present with you.

Indeed, the LTO is the office you have to go

You need your blue book, some patience and some money. (we paid 50 baht)

They will check your chassisnumber, look over the car.

Then you will be issued an International Transport Permit, which is in fact a summary translation of your blue book in English.

You will also be issued a country sticker "T" to be affixed to your car.

The validity is a maximum of one year, although can be renewed.

By International agreements you need both the T-sticker and the English translation.

Don't forget to take out insurance across the border!

Nobody will ask you for the permit, the sticker or the insurance, as long as you don't have an accident!

Then you will asked to produce all

And don't forget to get departure and entrance stamps in Thailand when crossing the border.

Is taking a car to tour round Cambodia that eazy now?

Thanks for the info. It is what I thought as I did this a few years ago for a bike that I took to Laos and Cambodia.

Now I want to take the ZOOK I have and maybe go see the real outbacks there.

Guess I need to clean the Zook up some before I take to the LTO. Hopefully they dont hit me because of all the modifications I have done.

It's in my name, I have a non B visa and work permit with a multiple re entry stamp so should be fine as far as going anywhere once I get the book.

Again Thanks

Dan
