I've been offered the rental of a 2001 Toyota Corona for 9,000 baht a month. Just curious if anyone has enough knowledge to shoot that in the foot, or call it a fair deal.

Thanks

That is a steal

I currently have a 2003 Toyota Vios. Tab is 24,000B/month

and that was the best deal I could find in Bangkok.

Is this a private party offer or is it a car rental agency ?

What city are you in ?

If you are in Bangkok, what company made this offer.

I sure would like to save 15000 Baht next month.

Private individual I know that has a rental company. She approached me about it because she knos my missus and said she wanted to do me a favor. Seems maybe she was being honest. :o

The Corona was discontinued in 1997/8, so it's not a 2001. 9K sounds OK I guess, a 1.6L or 2.0L engine?

So what about insurance & breakdown cover? A car this old, if it's been thrashed, may spend more time off the road than running. Also check the ins. If it's a case of you got to tell the cops you only borrowed the car if you have a smash, it might be worth taking out your own cover. Just my 2 baht worth. :o:D

9K is an excellent deal. Something like this would normally be in the 15K range.

Do be sure that the car carries first class insurance, and keep a rental agreement in the car if you are driving with a foreign licence.

Does your wife's friend have any more cars / feel like doing more favours? Or- how much are non favoured rates?
