If moving province, do I need to change the cars registration details and get a plate from that province for the car?

It is not necessary to change the plate. Let’s say if you have initially registered this car with a Bangkok Plate Number, later you decided to reside in Pattaya (Chonburi), then the report of the changing of address and changing of the number plate is not necessary. But should you, the car owner insist on obtaining a new local number plate then you must obtain permission from your landlord in supplying the letter of consent, ID card, and house registration. If you yourself the yellow tabian bahn ( Yellow House Registration Booklet ) this also will work.

On another side, the more important thing you should monitor is your driver’s license when you report the Ministry of Land Transport in reference to the change of residence. You will have to obtain the letter of residence (reflecting your local address) from your embassy. The acceptable substitute documents for the Letter confirming the residing address are:

a. Work Permit, or

b. Yellow House Registration Booklet or

c. Letter of Address confirmation issued by the Immigration Office.

1) Car registration question. To relocate or change the number plate from one province to another, the officer stated that the yellow house book could be used as proof of residence.

2) Driver’s License. The acceptable substitute documents for the Letter confirming the residing address are:

a. Work Permit, or

b. Yellow House Registration Booklet or

c. Letter of Address confirmation issued by the Immigration Office.
