Video - First Victim Of Red Shirt Violence

Perhaps he was shouting his disapproval of the reds or something of the sort. But the red clearly ran over and attacked him. That is in no way justifiable.

Agreed the red shirt was the aggressor and it is absolutely unjustified.

Also, it was just as you thought. He was disapproving of the traffic jams they are causing.

This is what a Nation editor wrote on his Twitter page about eight hours ago:
First report of untoward incident: Reds at Pathum Thani provincial hall assaulted a man who yelled at them for causing traffic chaos.

So be careful and don't complain about traffic disturbances caused by the demonstrators. That's what they probably want to achieve, to have people cower in fear, despite public proclamations that they would use no violence.

Agreed. Intimidation is their cornerstone.

Red shirt saying there may be a 3rd guy making trouble, maybe from government. Pinky complained that Reds are making a problem blocking traffic, asked them why they have to block traffic. Pinky complained that he has no weapon but Red used a bullhorn to hit him. Pink also complained that police held him and let Red run off.

I wouldn't clean someone's bleeding wound if it's minor like that. You're not going to bleed to death from a face cut. Just donate a shirt or clean cloth and hand it to them. They'll automatically put pressure on the wound. Just tell them not to peek so it congeals and scabs.

Doesn't matter what Pinky said, once it went to physical violence the Red was in the wrong. And the Red used a weapon. Pinky needs to bone up on the Royce Gracie Brazilian Jiu-jitsu though.

Violence at PAD rallies WAS discussed 2 years ago and then and now dismissed as wholly justifed demonstration of righteousness by a majority of the yellow leaning posters on this forum. This time around, since it's not their little adopted party it is wholly UNjustified and evil doings of the uneducated masses who must be contained by any means. Just more relentless hypocrisy from the want to be hiso/educated clique.

Seen this one already. Anyone got any clips of Yellow shirt violence or police violence ?

Really ? There aren't any, wow, such honest, democratic, upstanding citizens.

Google is your friend.

Violence occurring at those demonstrations some two years ago was discussed at length in this forum at the time.

Actually, I think Pinky, for an old dude, did a pretty decent job at defense from ground against and upright opponent.. ESP since he didn't take any blows and eventually forced the redshirt down and had advantage had the cops not stopped it then.

I'm sporting a brownish green shirt (several actually) this weekend. I stand in firm support of DIRT and TREES! I shall be organizing a 1 man march to the beach and then possibly a 12 man march (with some mates) to play some football. Dare try and stop us! I will have swim and football regardless of what color shirts appear in front of us!

good reference an excellent source of current affairs of the reds showing their true nature and intention of their demonstration which their leaders claimed to be totally nonviolent....

and if there is any violence, it would be those unknown third party who caused the problem....

jatuporn himself proclaimed that on the interview podium televised by the red station called people station....

everyone should tape into that source to see for themselves .....

and then decide for themselves.... whether redshirts should receive our support or not.... or even our sympathy....

Looks as if the guy got out of his car and was harassing the red-shirt. Who knows? That clip doesn't show what was happening to cause it.

:)

Your post is in no way justifiable.

Did you not see the other guy kick the red shirt in the stomach as he ran over?

Oh, of course, "self defence". Yeah, right.

Another thread for the "jokes" forum, I think.

Pink shirt guy misjudged his first kick, he didn't have enough strength or momentum to stop the advancing opponent so he got tumbled back, he sustained a few hits on the head with a megaphone but eventually got hold of his opponent and got the upper hand. That's when the cops intervened.

He was driving black Fortuner, not MU7.

In the beginning of the video the red dude didn't duck any objects thrown at him, he was disentangling himself from some sort of a red banner.

There were three sides to this episode, the red, obviously, bringing enforced democracy to corrupted Bangkokians, the pink (the color made significant when The King wore a pink polo shirt when he was discharged from a hospital a couple of years ago), and the bystanders with video cameras. Pink guy thought he could say anything to the red guy, not understanding the red version of free speech, and the bystanders thought that everything is the responsibility of the police - the first discernible words in the video were "Police, Police, Police".

And that, in a nutshell, is how Thai democracy works when applied in an idealistic way.

I agree about it being a very good reference on that link. Thanks for posting that, lazygourmet

It has this classic reference that is just as pertinent and accurate today as when it was posted the last time this same sort of "thing" happened.

The particular bit at 2:15 always makes me laugh with his vocal inflections although his bumbling and stumbling about throughout it are astounding

Thais should be very ashamed of this. Their country is supposed to be a progressive SE Asian country, and yet they've allowed this kind of bullshit to surface and become the current image of Thailand. Thugs and sectarian violence... isn't that just GREAT! At the end of the day, Red Shirts, Yellow Shirts, I-Don't-Care-What-Color-Shirts, are f*cking up their own country. Who wants to do business in a place like this?

thx a mil for your ref post.... while tuksin was in power, i was in and out of thailand and was not fully appraised of details during that particular period....

now after having the opportunity to watch and listen to several opinion from experts.... the gaps have now been filled enabling me to understand why tuksin has been reacting and behaving like the way he most recently did....

it wises me up quite a bit.... helping me to realize even more that absolute power corrupts.... most if not all.... and

that interests of the nation should supercede personal favouritism.... thx again for your post, you'al

Thanin Boonkasem, right, talks to a police officer after he was allegedly attacked by a supporter of ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra who staged an anti-government rally in Pathum Thani province, central Thailand Friday, March 12, 2010. The Thai capital braced for possible violence as anti-government activists launched Friday what they hope will be one of the country's biggest protests in an effort to force Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to call new elections.

With hundreds of thousands of people involved you would expect incidents like this. It happens at football matches, concerts or anywhere else there's a large crowd. It hardly constitutes "red shirt violence".

No, this behavior is totally fair and acceptable, since it also happens during or after football matches, concerts, etc... Right?

Are you on medication or something? You seem to suffer from some kind of empathy disorder. Would like to hear you say "Mai pen rai" the day you get smacked down on the street. I will help you by clapping my hands to cheer up the event even more.

Just blame Taksin for this, just like for everything else. What kind of news story is this?? Of course there is going to be individual cases of violence. There was violence during the yellow shirt protests as well, everyone knows this. Why does this website seem to keep generating news write-ups that portray a narrow view of events related to politics in Thailand?

From The Nation

http://www.nationmultimedia.com/home/2010/...i-30124581.html

Motorist attacked in Pathum Thani

Interior decorator Thanin Boonkasem, 50, was attacked when he found himself caught in traffic near Pathum Thani City Hall and got out of his car to demand that he be allowed to go through, before red-shirt protester Sanchai Phetprasert, 54, started assaulting him.

Sanchai, who was making announcements from a pickup, ran towards Thanin and started hitting him with his megaphone before police officers intervened.

Thanin said he was tired after the long drive from Nonthaburi province and did not appreciate being caught in a traffic jam.

He said he came out of his car and told the red shirts to move their vehicles away from the road to ease the congestion, but they started abusing him, before Sanchai started attacking him.

Thanin, who ended up with injuries to his forehead, said he was not ready to make any compromises and questioned why the hundreds of police officers on duty did not rush to help him.

The two were taken to Muang Pathum Thani police station to make their statements.

Charge the red shirt scum with assault and battery. :)

The reds want a peaceful demonstration as long as they can act like babies, block any road they want, cause as much public disturbance as possible, and not follow a peaceful and respectable framework for their protest. The minute someone decides to criticize their piggish behavior, they get bashed over the head with a 'peaceful' demonstrator's megaphone. Stupid red buffalo.

ilookforwork

ahhhh haaaaa....

u really should thank thaivisa website like this, my friend....

do u know that without thaivisa website like this.... and the opportunity it provides for each individual almost equal chance to voice his/her opinion regardless of how ridiculous whatever one wishes to express....

the former soldiers who are having a good time roaming the good old soil of thailand.... probably would go zonkka and get their big heads together and so something according to their whimsicalities....

i for one, even though some moderators dislike what i challenged them to do or not to do once in a while...., am grateful for the opportunity to also voice my opinion and concerns.... and many times--even to make fun of my country men and women.... and most importantly to make fun of my own self.... LOL

for your info.... the views expressed in most forum are anything but narrow.... just look at the number of posters who have been banned from posting.... LOL

as for you, perhaps.... you really should enrich and widen your sight, sound, sense, logic and experiences just a tiny bit.... just so you would be on par with many of us.... LOL who probably were fighting our own imaginary world wars.... even before your wonderful conception.... :) ooopss.... i do meant it to be comical.... not detrimental.... alright? :D

most importantly, i do respect your post and uphold your individual differences.... and i do wish you would grant other posters similar tolerance.... alright friend? <especially in a difficult time such as what we are going through at the moment.... every farang loves a fair fight but loathes.... if someone starts biting and chewing on his lessor opponant's earlop.... <unless u r a farang of some means.... u probably won't fathom this univerally famous comical reference created by the once upon a time the almighty mike tyson....> LOL :D:D

Amazing, a fight between two people get a title like 'Victim of Red Shirt Violence"!

There is no doubt on which side the guy who gave this title is!

I guess that would be me. Perhaps I could have titled it more neutrally, but when I saw it, it looked to me like a red shirt charged and attacked the pink shirt guy because he didn't like what the pink shirt guy had said. But your point is taken.

Just for the record, I am not on any side here - red, yellow, blue,or pink. That said, I probably share the feelings of most here in saying that my only "side" is hoping and praying that this all ends without anyone getting hurt - not even another pink shirt guy with a big mouth - and without anarchy taking over in the streets of Bangkok. I fear both are very possible. I was here and saw what happened over Songkran. On one of those days, I driving along and was suddenly surrounded by a mob of red shirts jumping out of pickups, and let me tell you, seeing the anger in their eyes up close was frightening. Fortunately, I kept my windows up and my mouth shut and they left me alone.

I realise this is cliche, but:

Peace out...
