I was walking in the garden yesterday when I disturbed a brown snake basking in the sun. It was about 70 cms in length, and I would guess 3 cms across (not diameter) tapering to the tail. It slithered off slowly, but showed no signs of injury. Will it kill me? I've tried Googling, and am not sure which of those described is it. It was uniformly brown. If I see one again, is there anything to look out for which would enable me to positively identify it? I now walk slower in the garden, with heavier tread...

It certainly seems like it was Ptyas korros. We have rats and frogs around here for it to dine on. Phew, it's not going to kill me! Thanks for the links.
