MrQuib
I found my lost son in the philippines. I was a Marine there in 1988. He is now 21 years old! Can I still bring him to the US to live with us? Where do I start? What do I do? I live in Iowa, so cheers to everyone out there. MrQuib

gotlost
If you have birth certificate that list you as the father then he is entitled to a US Passport.
crev
I think you need to know what you have at the moment. Documents saying he's your son is a good start. Do you think the mother will help you out? Ask your embassy there in the US for the paper works. Good luck!
tropo
Is his Filipino mother part of the "us" in the USA? How did you lose him? The US Embassy will require a DNA test.
ALFREDO
Sure a DNA Test should be done before all necessary things start, to know 100% that its your son. The Embassy, I believe will also like to recognice that.
Scott
Be sure to contact the embassy and/or Immigration before getting the DNA test. There has to be an unbroken chain of evidence in order for them to verify that he is your child. If he is, he is then entitled to citizenship and a passport. It all takes time, however. Best of luck. MrQuib
Hey Folks - Thx for the replies. I signed an Affidavit of paternity after he was born and it seems he's entitled to US Passport. I am doing the paperwork now. I don't think a DNA test will be required. Thanks again! MrQuib
submaniac
Happy things are working out for you. And it is nice to hear about someone actually wanting to take responsibility for his child! Good luck to you.
