I am about to accept a job in Chumphon and should be moving there in May. I have an unlocked Iphone 3GS I got in the states and have been using in China. I've read a lot a bad things about the Thai 3G network online, but all the articles/posts I read were from last year. So my questions are:

1. Can I access a 3G network in Chumphon? Who offers it?

2. If there is no 3G network, does anyone know when there will be one?

3. How do cell phones work in Thailand? Are they all prepaid or do you sign a contract?

4. What cell phone companies would you recommend?
