Last year I bought a VW Golf GTI and later I had it chip-tuned by ABT, the German car tuner and outside racing associate of Audi.

The power increased from 210 HP to 260 HP and the car is a beast. Lots of wheel spin and power without end.

Now, power is addictive and I thought of giving my AUDI A6 3.0 TDI a similar treatment. This is a diesel engine and actually I am new to diesel engines. This is my first car with a diesel. So I have now idea how chip tuning affects a diesel engine. Will it have similar benefits like a petrol engine, i.e. more power and more torque, both at the low end and at the high end. (At least that's what I always got from ABT chip tuning for petrol cars).

If anyone has experience, I would appreciate to hear from you. Thanks

Hey there,

I don't actually have experience in Chipping a Diesel Audi but just wanted to add a comment.

You probably know more about this than me by the sounds of it, but just in case.

I know of one company in Australia you could try http://www.abt-australia.com/

or specifically for the A6 3.0 Diesel. http://www.abt-sportsline.de/en/tuning/sho...ne-tuning-1936/

I'm sure you could find a decent Audi mechanic in Bkk to install, but you wont have the tech support of say ABT .

Good luck and let us know how your project goes!

I have just re-flashed my BMW320d using superchips (uk) BlueFin, a small hand held device. Fairly easy to do via the OBC port, took about 10 mins and is undectable during BMW servicing. Standard power 177bhp 350nM. Reflashed-220bhp 450nM. Driving the car after the re-flash of the ECU - smoother take up in town and the additional torque is certainly noticable driving over the mountains to Phayao. One of the advantages of the BlueFin is you can return the ECU back to the standard setting and if you change the car you can obtain new software (although at additional cost) and reuse the BlueFin. The BlueFin is available in Thailand although more expensive than obtaining the device direct from Superchips. The BlueFin is available for Audi and will raising the power to 275bhp with an additional 105nM of torque.

Thank you all for your valuable input. I could find the Thai subsidiary of ABT Germany, they are on Ram Indra and officially sell chip tuning for my AUDI.

I have contacted them for more info and price and I will let you know about the outcome.

One important issue is also whether or not the tuning voids factory warranty. I have to find out about that too.

Warranty wise it depends. Best is to keep your car properly maintained. I have flashed numerous cars over the past 6 years in the US, Europe, and Asia as well without any problems. The only problems is the end user not taking care of their cars.

If the dealers want to find out if your car is chipped, they can find out if they are skilled enought. Most tuners claim that their chips are invisible to the dealer, which isnt true at all. There are certain protocals in which we can easily find out.

The other important thing when getting a tuning chip is local support. Without any local support its pretty pointless from getting a software from someone who cannot provide you any technical help when your car has problems.

just my thoughts....

Right Initiala4, taking good care of the car is vital, especially if the engine has now more power so every part might be more stressed.

My concern was that the dealer/importer might void any guarantee if he doesn't "like" the chip.

I have now cleared this issues: Both Volkswagen and AUDI grant full warranty to their cars if the chip tuning has been made by the official ABT tuner. That's a relief.

AUDI also told me that chip tuning by MTM would also be accepted.

So now I have the choice, let's see the prices. The increase in power and torque are pretty mach the same.

Where did you find an A6 3.0 TDI in Thailand? Is it Quattro?

What year is it?

Got a chipped S6 C4 myself.
