PATTAYA:-- In the early hours of Wednesday morning police at Dongtan sub-station on Jomtien Beach arrested a 41-year-old Thai male who was carrying a loaded pistol and wearing a police cap and jacket with a badge around his neck.

If that is the case why did he say:

1. he had been given a license to possess the gun by a local government official. When police contacted the official the man denied knowing the arrested man or giving such permission.

2. The arrestee also said he was close friends with a number of officers who work out of the Soi 9 station, but the police did not believe him.

Why not just say "I'm bona fide copper and here's my proof".

Of course he's not a real cop. At 2 am all the real police are safely tucked up in the soi 9 social club watching TV, drinking or sleeping.
