Satnav

Im thinking of getting some sort of satnav for my pickup but know next to nothing about it   :)

I have read on this forum that Garmin has no map for Thailand but allow a third party to make maps for them ?

I have also read that Bangkok is covered very well but the rest of the country is not covered very well ?

Also last but certainly not least is the monthly subscription cost to whoever.  how much can I expect to have to pay every month ?

Thank's for any advice you can give   :D

there is just one brand .. provides quality and function in one .. which is garmin !

you simpley buy the device overpriced in thailand .. then it inclides the maps and 1 year update promise from ESRI THailand.

or you buy it some place else .. and get here a plug & play card installed.

save you almost half of the costs.

no contracts or anything binded to the hard and/or software.

you can renew or leave it ...

the device will work anyway.

When you say some place else do you mean outside Thailand ? :)

Def buy Garmin. I bought mine over from the UK, inserted the Thai maps and it works perfect.

Make sure you buy a Garmin/maps with the latest version which is now V.10.

Garmins are overpriced here in Thailand so either buy one out side of Thailand or look on the classifieds here for sellers who have already imported them.
