Two Top Terrorists Arrested in Southern Thailand

NARATHIWAT: Authorities have apprehended two leaders of Runda Kumpalan Kecil, an active terrorist organization in southern Thailand. At the same time, more than 20 foreign correspondents have traveled to the region.

The Provincial Police Bureau in Narathiwat Province has organized a press conference to announce that two insurgents have been arrested, including 56-six-year-old Lah-u-ma Loma and 52-year-old Ar-wae-law Loma, both high-ranking commanders of Runda Kumpalan Kecil or RKK, a well-known terrorist organization.

The two were apprehended during a police raid carried out upon information gathered from another suspect who was arrested earlier.

Both suspects have denied all charges against them. However, a witness in the case of a father-son murder that occurred in 2007 was able to identify both the suspects, since they did not cover their faces while committing the crime.

The two are being further interrogated.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Narathiwat, Thanon Vejkornkanont, along with officials in the province, has welcomed more than 20 foreign correspondents from various international news agencies such as Fox News, Xin Hua, Mai-nichi, Asahi Shimbun, Australia Broadcasting Company, Dukas Switzerland, and France International Radio.

The correspondents are being hosted by the Government Public Relations Department.

They will be given the opportunity to experience first-hand the lives of the Thai Buddhists and Muslims in the region, as well as to learn from government officials about the situation.

Parading these 2 in front of the news will only inflame the insurgency to commit even more heinous crimes against the innocent
