Brining Large Art Collection To Thailand - Canvas, Wood & Humidity

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am moving back to Chiangmai in July. Last time it was just be a few boxes. but now I have a large art collection. I fear brining canvas paintings with a variety of wood frames to a tropical climate. (I also fear getting rid of my entire collection.)

Does anyone have experiences they can share on shipping their own art to Thailand? Advice to give?

Worst case scenario, should I expect my canvas to immediately mold, then fall straight off termite filled frames?

If needed does anyone have advice on protecting the work or treating canvas ahead of time?

Many thanks in advance,

Nola

wrong assumption. the worst case scenario is that customs send your shipment back to its origin. it sounds unbelievable but the importation of any "works of art" is prohibited by thai law. an alternative is to use an "experienced" clearing agent.

p.s. if you need additional advice PM me.

If your collection is valuable, I would seek proper professional advice

It mean no one in the right mind should bring valuable art to Thailand :)
