Imm-o Extension, New Imm-o Or Work Permit?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I will be getting a work permit soon through my company in about 4 or 5 months, but the issue now is that my Imm-O spouse visa runs out in 2 weeks.

I can not get the 1 year extension as I will only have the 400k baht for 3 months in my account in 3 weeks, so to get the extension, I have heard I will need a 60 day extension from the immigration office and then apply for the 1 year extension when the 400K baht in the account for 3 months matures.

But what about exiting Thailand on the day my 90 days/visa runs out and applying for a new imm-O visa instead of applying for the extension.

That would be easier wouldn't it?

You only need the money to be there for two months, so you are OK right now. (For retirement it needs to be there 3 months, the first time only 2 months)

In Kuala Lumpur you would even get a multiple non-O visa if you show your bankbook with at least 100,000 in it, which doesn't seem the problem.

You will also need the marriage certificate, copy of your wife's ID, copy of your wife's household book and a short leteer asking for a visa for you.

Other consulates in the region will only give you a single non-O.

2 months? great, then I pass for the extension requirements.

I will apply for it this week in Thailand.

Thanks.
