Hey guys,

My Thai wife and I are coming back to Thailand next week, and staying for a month. I'm not sure how the Thai 'health-care' system works, if something unfortunate happened to her.

Is it worth getting travel insurance for her? If so, which company can do this, as most companies I have come across in Australia only insure Australian citizens.

Thanks

Nick

You've left it a bit late but get in touch with BUPA international and see if you can arrange insurance for her ahead of your arrival via the internet.

BUPA Australia might offer cover for international travel.

check out Thai visa (insurance) if they can offer your lady medical cover.

Check out Colombus travel insurance - You only need to have been a resident of Oz for the previous 3 months and be departing from Oz.. It is $325 for a basic individual annual travel insurance .Individual trips would be less. I think they aim for the backpacker/budget market but i have used them for years but never had to claim so don't know how good they are if something does go wrong. .
