Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Is a medical examination required for a work visa?

A friend of mine would like to work in BKK. However, she has LUPUS.

Would this be a problem?

Yes, a medical here can be done in record time for a small fee of between THB80 and THB200.Mine took no longer than time to fill out the form and get the doctor to

sign etc.

The Doc actually started to ask me a couple of questions and i told her "just put no for anything that is bad and make it snappy will ya...the pub opens in 10 mins."

You don't need a med cert to get the work visa (Type 'B'), but you will need to get the med cert for your Work Permit later...

The cert is to check for communicable diseaes, drug addiction, and insanity. Nothing else. Your others states of health are of no concern to anyone

Just wanted to clarify it for her before she considers going.

Because of the air pollution in BKK, she may not be able to go anyway (Lupus flares up significantly in poor conditions).

There's a short list of diseases, and I think leprosy and elephantiasis are on the list. Not to worry. I mean, you'd probably know if you had one of those.

I need one for my work permit, my driver's license, and maybe something else. Can I go in and ask for two exam papers?

There is a form...It is the same one for visa's as is the same on for a Thai DL...

I just wonder whether some doctors might hesitate to certify "free from any defect" if the subject had something pre-existing that isn't specified on the list?

I wouldn't go that far nor would I say that if you can be a weberator you'll pass. clearly the Doc listened to my breathing and heart...You could have a murmer or TB and walk in as one could make a total arse out of themseves on a keyboard and still ass.
