How much per day do you reckon these brilliant independent thinkers are paid? Only following orders, ya ya. I love the mention not to approach them as they are DANGEROUS --

For now, we ask everyone not to approach any red shirts and not to verbally abuse them in any way as this could put you in danger.
Good advise!

Bunch of poppycock that report...more likely don't get close to them and talk to them as you might hear what their grievances vis-a-vis Thai politics and society are about!

As most of the "quality" Bangkok press has been reporting, the protests (for the most part) have been non-violent and in typical Thai style more of an opportunity to have fun while making a point.

Sure there have been a spat of small bombings/grenade attacks by hot-heads (or possibly gov't. provocateurs) but the vast majority of the people taking part in the protests have been peaceful. (Especially when you consider that basically two elections have been stolen from them in one way or another.)

You are all wrong. They are anti-democratic violent thugs. Just try to say to them that you hate Thaksin and you will be beat up or murdered. They are not for free speech, only their way ONLY. Even give them a dirty look of disapproval (yes I tried this) and watch the reaction. They are not civilized, peaceful people.

55555 :):D :D

There's about 25-30 of them under a big tent on Nua. Their water supplies take up more room than the protesters. Still, they're blocking the left lane of the west bound lanes in front of City Hall, those bad redshirt boys. Didn't seem to be causing any problems, and there isn't much to look at.

If things go south in Bangkok, word is Thaksin will order them to increase their numbers and attack city halls all over Thailand. Not peaceful. Not law abiding. These are people with violent criminal intent, they are just waiting for their orders.

You are wrong, most are just "Jungle Grannies" (Rent-A-Mob) here for the money and a good time, there is just a small minority who are a bunch of thugs and organising the troubles who are the ones that you should certainly avoid.

What you see is the advance force. If they get the order from wherever the puppet master is hiding out these days, then our local city hall will be violently attacked, as they have threatened. How can you wave and smile to these mercenary anarchists? Sickening. Would you have smiled at brown shirts in Berlin? How about murderous Maoist cultural revolution youth also in RED? They represent a movement of VIOLENCE in Thailand. Wake up.

UPDATE

Pattaya Red Shirts leave City Hall and move to protect their local radio station from closure

PATTAYA:-- On Tuesday Night, the anti-government red shirts who had assembled at Pattaya City Hall as part of plans to invade provincial city halls around Thailand, looked as if they were there to stay. Tents and a sound stage had been erected and the worse fears of local government officials appeared to have been realized.

It is clear who City Hall support, given the people close to the administration who addressed the Red Shirts at their rallying point recently. Bandwaggoners. They deserve their new guests. Som nam na.

Also I am sure Abbhisit hasn't forgotten the fiasco in the city last year when he wasn't protected sufficiently.

Wow if Pattaya one news is reporting it it must be true or at least 1-2% of the story. I cruised by city hall today & they seemed pretty peaceful. I don't care for any of the childish protests yellow or red or has more money to pay out -but for the sake of the country they have all ready hit it & it is tine to quit it or invite Mr.T back into power again & trick the trickster & lock him up for the 2 years he has coming. This country is truly amazing . The weakest of weak sauces in the world. Even the Philippines managed to oust out their bad apples & keep them out. I don't think they would be able(red or yellow) to get away with the shenanigans that they are pulling off. Time for the little kids to grow up & get the puppet masters to duke it out.

UPDATE

Hundreds of Pattaya Red Shirts briefly return to City Hall and then leave for Bangkok

On Wednesday Night orders were given from core leaders in Bangkok for the Pattaya anti-government protesters to return to Provincial City Halls. Here in Pattaya the City Hall is located on the North Pattaya Road and around 500 Pattaya red shirts who were joined by colleagues from Laem Chabang and Sattahip converged close to the entrance to City Hall.

500 protesters into 14 mini vans...

Just how many Jungle Grannies can you squeeze into a mini van? 35+ ???

The whole idea was to reduce police and army numbers in BKK and it did not work.

As reported somewhere the Jungle Grannies are on a promise that they will only be paid if they stay to the protests end.

Bet they nether get paid... :)

UPDATE

Pattaya Red Shirts move off to Bangkok for their “final push”

PATTAYA:-- The Pattaya anti-government red shirts are continuing their presence at the entrance to Pattaya City Hall and on Thursday Night we arrived to find only one lane of traffic open on the North Pattaya Road leading down to Pattaya Beach and approximately 500 red shirts watching television reports from the Bangkok protest sites.

Your stay in Thailand will be more peaceful if you can refrain from saying to Thai people that hate their leaders, past and future. I don't think Thai people walk around the US yelling to Americans that they hate Obama.

Just drove past ,dangerous? you have to be joking ,they were all laughing and waving.

The only danger is to your eardrums. I drove past a couple of days ago and they were outside city hall, smiling, dancing to the usual music bellowing out the noisey speakers that Thais love, and waving at passers by in a friendly manner. Also using those hand clappers.

I was going to Tesco-Lotus opposite the town hall. As I looked out over their group, I heard to a man singing to the crowd from a "stage".

No Agro there - all good clean fun !
