Who won the last election? I know, and the vast majority of people in Thailand do, but many of the elite in Bangkok like to conveniently forget and create distractions.

These elite (dressed in yellow only so they can get the support of the army) say "Oh, but Thaksin bought votes from the rural poor". So what? The rural folk got 500-1000 baht more than they ever got from Bangkok. Why do the elite say such nonsense? Vote buying is part of any early democracy. On the other side is tax breaks for the rich and middle classes. This vote buying claim is just a distraction from the truth, a distraction from the real issues at stake.

The real issue is one of class. The real issue is one of rich vs poor. The real issue is fair trade (domestically). The real issue a corrupt, puppet electoral commission which allows the old school to continue ruling the country even though they were not democratically elected.

"But the Red leaders paid people to come to Bangkok." Again, so what? They need food and money to pay for gasoline to drive down, don't they? They haven't got servants taking care of their land back home. They haven't got slaves ploughing their fields. They haven't got staff handling their businesses. If they did have, they wouldn't be protesting about poverty, injustice, and an illegal government.

And why do the elite blame Thaksin for this mess? Are they saying the rural poor have no brain and can't think for themselves? Do you think the Reds are taking bullets from their own army (which they pay for with their taxes) for an extra 1,000 or 2,000 baht? No, don't be ridiculous. Those to blame are the rich who steal from the poor everyday - through land rent and unfair trade. And Thaksin gave them a 30 baht healthcare plan, which is much more than any previous government had given them. They have a lot to thank this man. Does any right minded, socially responsible person in the West criticize Obama for his healthcare reforms? No.

And why are the farmers poor in the first place you ask? When I buy rice in the West, it isn't cheap. At some point along the line, someone's making money - and it isn't the farmers. The farmers are poor because they don't get a fair price for the rice and other goods they produce. Those making the money are the land owners and the middlemen - the Bangkok elite. Is this fair trade? Certainly not. I bet if some UN personality got on the stage and started harping on about fair trade, the world would listen.

Lastly, Abhisit knows his government is illegal. He's not dumb. So why doesn't he go? He should go. And he calls himself leader of the Democratic Party? Arai wa?

it means that your post is suspect ! little credibility issues when you post hogwash.

FACTS ARE A LOST ART! just write anything, even if untrue to prove your case.
