orlandoiam
Alright, so I'm most probably a real idiot with this....but is it possible to buy tickets at Don Muang (sp?!). I am in Bangkok now. I am leaving for the U.S. in a little over a month. I've been writing a few travel agents here and there but is it worth my while to go to individual airlines' offices? And if so, is there a concentration of offices in the airport? The individual airline offices are spread all over the Sukumwit/ Sala Daeng area. Should I try for cheaper tickets at these offices? Right now the prices are pretty steep. Something about the high season...seems like every time i have to leave or come it's the ###### "high" season. Thank you for your help. O A bit of advice for you my friend dont buy your tickets in the airport!!!! way too expensive. I recommend that you go to the travel agents on the other side of the road to the airport by the train station. Company called pornpin travel yes i know it sounds funny but it is a legit company and i have always used them when booking tickets back to the U.K. If you dont buy from here choose another agent in Bangkok but always confirm you have the seat before you pay any money. stephanbkk
Working for a major airline in Bangkok I can tell you never ever buy a ticket at the airport. Sure you can and people do, but generally business people and last minute emergencies. Airport offices are only allowed to sell the legal IATA fares and can not offer discounts. Travel agencies or consolodators offer better fares as they get commissions and overrides on the amount they sell. If in the city check out Majestic Travel or TV Air (Silom Branch Only). Of if no time take the advice of last poster and check out agent across from the airport.

orlandoiam
Thank you for your advice! Saved me from an unnecessary trip. Still in the city, so I'll try checking out those sites. Thank you again. O
orlandoiam
Also for future reference, I found this when looking on the web. It's the Association of Thai Travel Agents. It has hundreds of "legit" travel agents (I'm not sure if there are illegit travel agents but it seems like it could be a possiblity)... Also, I'm not sure if a mass mailing to a bunch of travel agents will be helpful....but I'm giving it a shot. Here's the URL: http://www.atta.or.th/member/?vletter=a O

My friend got ripped off by one on ksr, booked the ticket didnt check with the airline went back a few days later to collect said ticket no shop!!!!!! she was told that the company had gone bust and simply dissapered. Bad luck for the girl but it just goes to add the point always check with the airline that the seat is confirmed before you hand over any money Edited June 4, 2005 by daleyboy

elliss
Alright, so I'm most probably a real idiot with this....but is it possible to buy tickets at Don Muang i did . on the flight over to bkk , i was undecided where to go in los , catch a train take a plane etc . on arrival at don, s , i went into the transfer lounge , looked at flight departure board , fancied a flight to cambodia . went up to the desk , and booked a seat . two hours later on the flight to pnom penh . on later research , i found the price was much the same as a travel agent would charge . the good news , i had a week in cambodia , and returned over the top route , by bus into my favourite place , thailand .
