P2p Ban In Thailand?

I dunno if any one has heard about this, but apparently, there is a ban of P2P stuff by ISPs in Bangkok??? I've got a buddy moving here from the UK later this summer and he wanted me to check out some ADSL ISPs for him, but I can't find any info on who's actually got a ban on P2Ps...

I use true at work, and there doesn't seem to be any problems there, but does anyone else know of anything? I'd apreciate any and all "useful" replies.

And if it's nto too much trouble, who's got the best ADSL in BKK these days? Price for service value, ie stable and constant connections, not too $$$

Thanks

on true it is working!

I guess they can not really ban it, but sometimes their speed is so bad that it is nearly a ban!

I use emule through KSC at the moment and it works fine.

I intend to get TOT ADSL this month , my landlord has agreed to sign up when he gets back from singapore. I will try the 'Silver Cyber'package for 512/256 at 700 baht per month.

na I get all my porn elsewhere :D

I do notice the lower speeds when it comes down to using bit torrent, I hate d/ling bigger files. Wen I d/led the Dave matthews discography, it took me 4 weeks... and the ###### thing was only 1gb :o

Now I'm trying to d/l teh ull first season on Lost, and that's 8gbs...so I figure by the time I get the full thing, I prob would have already watched the whole ###### thing on AXN already. (I can't find the DVD's for them anywhere....)

Actually on that note, if anyone can help me find the first season of Lost, I'd be FOREVER greatful. :D

I recently spoke to a True "engineer" who told me that True IS limiting p2p transfers, but the system does not work yet and that is why it is so slow. Apparently it is not their intention for it to be this slow. He said give it a month or so for the system to start working fairly.

I didn't say I believe him, but these are his words, make of them what you will.

BTW, Lost is EASILY available on BT dump sites if you enjoy such things... and are prepared to wait!

Why are they banning it in Singapore? Or is this just another aspect of the Big Brother attitude of the gov over there?

hi'

I guess that most of us know the answer to this ... :o

get yourself a router, and forward the ports that you may use for p2p.

ie: chosen ports : 45001 to 45011, forward this chain of ports to the same on your com :D

there you are :D

and, change ports from time to time :D

don't forget to forward the default port 6881 as some trackers can use it :D

the TCP protocol is enough , no need to use UDP.

Francois, perhaps I should not count myself among "the most of us...", but I would like to understand. Could you elaborate on what you suggest to do? What do you exactly mean by "forwarding a port", and how do you do it?

If you could provide a step-by-step procedure with an example, that would be much appreciated. Let's take WinMX for instance, it uses port # 6699 for incoming TCP connections. Is that the port you suggest to forward? What do you do then?
