Dakhar
For some time I have been wondering if a marrige that began in the US and was disolved at the Amphur in Thailand would the divorce be honored in the USA. Apparently the answer is "Yes." "An immediate issue surrounding the issuance of an Amphur divorce is: will the United States recognize the divorce as binding? Quite simply: Yes. A divorce registered at an Amphur office is considered legally binding for US purposes." http://integrity-legal.com/legal-blog/tag/thailand-divorce/ This is the first time I have seen a lawyer come out and state this so clearly. I will be contacting this group next week.
Mario2008
The divorce yes, the matter of the devison of maritial property is another thing. If you also have property in the US that might be subject to the state law and not fall under an agreement made bewteen the two of you at the amphur in Thailand.
