SET pushes for world-class status

BANGKOK: -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) is working to become a fully integrated market in order to achieve world-class status and recognition, the SET's deputy president announced yesterday.

Mr. Chaiyut Chamnanlertkij, who is responsible for supervising the SET's use of information technology (IT), said that the SET had drawn up a plan to develop the structure of stock trading and become an integrated market by the end of the year.

Under the plans, the SET will develop infrastructure technology in a bid to become a hub of debenture trading, a process that should be completed by next month.

The move will accommodate trading in both private sector debentures and government bonds, and the growing number of investors and investment institutions

YEAH!!!!.... a new "hub" for Thailand. :o:D

Not sure if this is true, but I understand that over 25% of the total value of the SET is controlled by Mr Toxin and his friends,,,,

I believe AIS is ten per cent of the market cap on its own.
