First of all thanks to the site admins for giving all this information about Thai visa. I do have a question still about extending my stay. I have a non-immigrant education "ED" visa and already did a visa run to the border. Next week my second stay will expire so the next visa run is on its way. However I read on several sites that I can somehow extend my stay in the country. By simply going to the closest immigration office and with the proper papers I could stay in the country without having to cross the border.

Two questions:

- Can I still apply for extension after having done a visa run?

- What are the necessary papers that I have to show to the immigration officer? Letter of recommendation from my school? Is this the same letter as when I applied for the visa at the consulate in my home country? Other papers maybe?

Thank you kindly!

I am following several courses to become a dive instructor. I can prove my attendance with emails from PADI of becoming divemaster. This took a 2 month internship. Probably a letter from my diveschool would help as well?

Your school has to be register with Education Ministry and authorized - if they have not told you they are I suspect they are not.

Visas are issued by consulates abroad, and requirements for issue - especially outside the region - can range from simple letter upwards. Extensions of stay are issued by Thai Immigration, and the requirements for issue are more stringent. As said, your school will need to be registered with the Ministry of Education for you to apply for extension of stay on the basis of study.
