have planted tomatoes from the local seed store,a variety which is big,round ,red and fleshy,according to the pix,and description on the sachet.

Now after 2 months growt,the tomatoes just dont ripe,some fall of the branches but still a lot are just hanging on.

What can cause such a odd growt?

The other planted tomatoes are ripened (and eaten ) already,the seed from another source, the soil about the same,watering,fertilizer about the same(very little EM)

I did not try to eat the yellow tomatoes,why?,just dont know.

Could it be that they degenerated,in Italy tomatoes are called Pomadoro,yellow apples,or gold apples??

I have posted previously that Tomatoes and Potatoes come from the same family,amazing isnt it

Try eating one, you may have a yellow variety tomato plant, not unheard of for seed packet to be contaminated. I have seen tomato/potato combo plants in the US, they were planted more as conversation peice than for quality/quantity.

Hello kraxlhuber, your yellow tomatoes are from red tomato seed?

Tomatoes can be effected by 'high temps' which interrupts the production

of a chemical that turns it red in the ripening process.

The other problems, pictures would help in understanding whats going on.

I had problems with some of my O-P tomatoes this year also, one thats

can go over 500grs(not in LOS), but it was a yellow-orangeish blemish look,

not the red it should have been, but we had 10 days at 100F+.

But the Black Cherry toms were great.

From my garden, ripe yellow, black & red tomatoes.

Greenish/yellow is an immature color, wait out the remaining ones.

Hello kraxihuber, was you yellow tom sort of this color? This is caused by

high heat. Sun scald also tends to look like the lighter color, but

more of a tannish color, but is more of a patch, not streaked.

#1 picture.

The #2 picture is from the O/L seed catalog, FL, USA.

This tom is: Giant Belgium #5520 Developed in Ohio, this variety is

distinctive for its fruit that averages 2 lbs., but has been known to grow

to an enormous 5 lbs. Tomatoes are dark pink and solid meat with smooth

blossom ends and a delicious sweet flavor. Some folks make wine

from these very sweet tomatoes. Indeterminate. 90 days.

I was laid up with a leg problem so I didn't feed the tom's but 1

time a week, these were being grown in coir by hydroponic. The

plants were just hosed down with water every day(6-days).

Without food every day, very little growth, the Black Cherry next

to the Giant B. #3 picture. Both tom's(12 plants) were under a 30'

mango tree, they got 1-hour of early morning direct sunlight, the

rest was quite filtered.

Still not the color of the catalog picture, this was 2/26/10 and we

didn't really have HOT weather yet.

I started to feed the plants 1 time a day(not the normal 3 times)

and extra water(3/10/10) as the days started to get hotter.

The #4 picture is of the inside, very small seed cavity.

The Black Cherry's have been great performers, started growing

them 8 years ago, never a problem with the heat.
