Just bought a new Nissan navara which comes without a factory installed alarm system. You can have it installed optional but it is only audible no immobilzer attached so I don't see the use of it.

Does anyone know a place where they can fit an alarm with mentioned requirements and that will work on the standard key remote. If you could give me a price indication would be great also.

I see that there are no reply's so maybe I formulated my post in the wrong way.I just find out through a search on the web that an immobiliser actually means the key that has the chip inside.

What I actually had in mind was an alarm that cut's of the diesel supply or power supply to the engine when the system is activated. These kind of alarms were common use in Europe 20 years ago already and you wouldn't even get an insurance if you hadn't one installed but here in Thailand they seem not so easy to find.

i would go to Boy's (Boi's) shop on Sukhumvit, N. Pattaya. you familiar?

I'm pretty familiar with the location of all those shops on sukhumvith but the reason I started this topis is that I don't want to visit all of them to get a negative answer at the end.I assume some members on this forum must have had the same issue previously and might be able to point me in the right direction.

From what I understand from the dealer is that the alarms here in Thailand are dirt cheap but only make a sound when opening a door while you can drive of without a problem.I could tie a string with some tin can's behind the car aswell if that's the only thing they have to offer.

I had a alarm fitted by the Guys at Turbo Sound up in Naklua (right up, bout 3km from dolphin circle on the left), fast swift service... I had an issue with it at one stage and could not start the car, they drove to my place to sort it.

Am heading there today to get a new stereo fitted, would you like me to check alarm prices/brands for you ??

Spoonman that is a very generous offer from you and very much appreciated. It is clear freom the issue you had previously that they block the engine in some way and that is what I'm looking for.

Do you operate the alarm system with the original remote from your car or is it a seperate one?

Additional could you try out something for me.If you open the car manually with the key will the alarm go off and are you able to start the car?

The reason I ask is because on my current car,a chevy colorado,is a manufacturer installed alarm with remote control. However if I open the car with the key the alarm will also be disabled. So I assume that this alarm is useless when the lock is opened by force.

Baskje, the alarm was on my old Mitsu Lancer, I know have a Colorado as well.

It had nothing fitted from factory, I had the alarm and elec locks fitted, both operated of a single key FOB, if I opened the car maunally the alarm went off, could not start it either as I needed to hit the FOB button to de-activate the imobilsor.

I didnt go to Turbo Sound, instead I stopped at Boy on my way home, my Colorado is there now getting a new stereo fitted, when I pick it up I will ask about an immobilizer being fitted to operate off the Colorado FOB doofa for ya.

Yeah when I use my spare key to open the door it de-activates the OEM alarm, the Key FOB is really a wank.

Thanks again Spoonman, please keep in mind that the alarm system is meant to be installed in my new Nissan navara which has remote unlock but no alarm of any kind installed.

He says no probs to add an immobilizer to the existing unlock remote, may need an additional module to do it, was not sure on price though due to the module.

The alarm/immobilizer/central locking I had put in my old car cost (from memory) about 3500, might be worthwhile to go completely aftermarket.

Thanks for the enquiry Spoonman.I visited the shop today already as I was in the neighbourhood and spoke with a very kind lady. She showed me a system which would upgrade to my existing remote and said it would cost 2500 Baht.It would disable the engine and had also ultrasonic inside.Additional she showed me a brake lock which was built in so only the handle would be visible and it would also disable the engine when armed. You need a security key to unlock .Price was also 2500 Baht. When I receive the car at the end of this week I will have both installed.

Thanks again for the info.

Hey all,

I am looking for a similar "upgrade/oem" alarm (one that uses the factory key to operate the alarm) for my Isuzu Dmax. I already have a remote key with central locking and immobilizer but I need an alarm system that detects shocks/movement on and inside the car. My Isuzu dealer asks me 6500Baht for a "Zeus" upgrade alarm. However this one will only detect shocks and has no sensors inside the car. Futhermore the alarm and brand looks cheap, and I wouldn't spend more than 3000 baht on it. I live in Hua Hin but wouldn't mind making a trip to Bangkok to have a decent alarm installed. Can somebody advise me where to go?

Thanks for your help!

You are best off to go aftermarket as most dealerships will ream you dearly for the alarm they paid 1/3 or less for.

Besides you never see a killer show car with a bunk OEM alarm.
