Hi,

I have Salukis Hound and would like to set up a lure coursing club in Chonburi, I wondering if anybody of this member know anybody that own salukis in Thailand...

Hi,

I have only seen 3 salukis once at Impact for the big dogshow: not sure who owned them.

There are some salukis in Kuala Lumpur: a veterinarian owns a dozen or so.

Maybe your coursing club should be opned to all sight hounds: there are a few greyhounds ,some afghans and some whippets in Thailand.

hi, as u know i dont own salukis but had once been interested in aquiring one here in israel. at the time, there were almost none available except among the beduins and recently before getting my lhasas, i had brought the idea up with anon, but he thought they were disgusting looking (too skinny). thais (or should i say village thai) seem to like solid looking dogs, the ridgeback types, etc.

anyhow i found two or three breeders who are interested in keeping the desert line going.

here is the link of the one site. the others i cant get working... im not promoting, ivve never met these breeders, i just thoughtit would be interesting for folks to read about.

their site is a bit difficult to flip thur but they apparently race and breed for function and not just form...

some beautiful pics of salukis . i think it would be the perfect dog in thailand. no thick fur, easy to dry off during monsoons, tall, stylish, quiet, can be used to hunt in open areas. i dont understand why it isnt popular among wealthier thais.

to the OP u can post pics of yours here in this thread ....

I understand your husbands feelings..Salukis are what they are and only a few people will truly enjoy their qualities and attributes. The Thai Ridgeback is the dog that the rich Thai as well as the poor Thai seem to hold most dear..

Good luck trying to get people to do and think in a way you do.. I have tried to get others for years to unite in promoting the TRD in a positive way and all it seems like is NOT!!!

The Saluki is very much like the TRD in the aspect that it is NOT for everyone..
