Does anyone know of a place that will replace the zipper on a pair of cargo shorts? The shorts are in perfect condition but the metal loop holding the pull tab to the slider has broken. Any ideas? Extra points if close to MRT/BTS.

Level 3 parking lot of Emporium, at the back near the lifts. Not quick but quality.

Or, search your neighborhood as on the street you see people doing sewing of all sorts of things,

I'll second the 'look around locally' suggestion, one of your female neighbours will definitely know or try your condo office.

You don't need to speak Thai, actions speak louder, but I would not recommend showing them the problem whilst wearing the shorts :)

Actually a female companion I was traveling with this week felt I was being too cautious about them. She felt nobody was looking down there anyway.

Unfortunately I stay at a hotel not a condo, so my local neighborhood is a challenge. Too many tailors around. The Emporium is a perfect option for me though. Thanks!

just keep in mind two things as I said before, they are not quick and not cheap: but there is no better place I found in the city for hemming pants and such.

As already suggested walk up and down a few sois until you spot a sewing machine. They will probably do it for about 50 baht (the price of my last zipper replacement).

If you are like me when I get home after work I have a shower and throw on a pair of shorts - sans the underwear.

Word of caution, be careful the type of zippers you purchase. The metal ones, while more durable, have a tendency to get stuck in the wrong places :) leaving you with a dilemma, go back or push forward.

In my case, going back was less painful (but I suspect one must do the math on this before deciding).

I don't need quick. One week turnaround would be fine. As for cheap? Are we talking closer to 200 or 2000 baht?

200 baht for the Grade A zipper, 2000 baht if you want it made of Gold mate.

Thanks for the tip. I dropped the shorts off today. It will cost 200 baht and the turnaround is really a week.

BTW it is on the B2 level. I searched the parking area on level 3 to no avail. Thanks again!
