PATTAYA:-- On Friday Night a couple from Iran were taken to Pattaya Police Station by Security Staff from the Carrefour Shopping Center in Central Pattaya, accused of stealing items worth around 1,000 Baht. With all the sanctions ( and more to come) against Iran, they were probably overwhelmed at all the goods on the shelves and just could not resist trying it out straightaway.

Low on funds and in need of a cheap meal perhaps?

For the price of a bottled water, they could have joined Pattay's "balloon chasers" and eaten large almost for free...maybe against their religion to been seen in such establishments...but stealing is okay :)

How utterly stupid can these people be...........TWICE !

First for stealing this stuff in the first place but then for failing to realise they were offered an

INCREDIBLY GENEROUS way out and they refused that also :D

. Total value of the goods was 978.50 and Carrefour’s policy is to charge an accused thief 11 times the value of the items to avoid criminal charges. The figure of 10,763.50 Baht was given to the couple who eventually confessed to the theft but the couple said they would only pay for the value of the items and no more. This was not accepted by Carrefour staff and Police initiated criminal proceedings against them.

They dont have a clue about the hassles that are now awaiting them :)

A serious question: What would happen to a thief these days, caught in the Iran? Don't they lose their left hand the first time?

At least all these new "good tourists" that Pattaya is aiming for is paying off. Crimes committed by foreigners are at an all time low.

Instead stealing overhere, they should go to Switzerland. There they get only a short policereport and after one hour they can go. After that the sozialism and green parties woud support them to arranvge asylum in Switzerland so they could get free apartement , free mobilephone, free healt care, free dentist, free school for their kids (if they have) and free sozial support from the goverment to make a nice living. After 5 years they can get Swiss Passports and all wil be supported from the Swiss Taxpayers money. That is how different is the world.
