Nearly all currencies are week against the Baht, at the moment, this should possibly improve over the next year or so

Surely a time when other currencies are weak against the baht is exactly the right time.

Sorry, I thought OP wanted comment on moving from a Western country TO Thailand.

I'm not sure why you would wait and move money to Thailand when your currency was weak against the Baht, I've always spent less when the Aud $ has been strong. Although maybe I'm missing something :)

I did it the easy way.

I got divorced and left with everything else I owned that would fit in the company car. :D

Good way to downsize your belongings.

If anyone else out there is looking to be liberated from their money and assets, let me know. :D

First I would have to marry you and I don't think my Thai wife would be tooooo happy about that. :)

That's the beauty of what i'm offering mate. We skip the marriage and the years of misery living together and jump straight to the part where i rob you blind and leave you a liberated man free of the burden of any possessions, assets or money. Can't say fairer than that now can i? :D

Apologies. You are correct. My mistake. :)

Sold my cars and bikes, but i don't think i'll sell my property for a very long time. Have been renting out for over ten years and never had a problem. The key is finding a decent letting agent that will keep tabs on things. I must admit at first i was very reluctant and left it empty for over a year. I felt like if other people went in there it would no longer be my home. I no longer worry about that. I make decent enough money on the rental to easily strip and redecorate should i ever want to go back. And having that option is comforting, because once you step off the housing ladder we all know how difficult it is to get back on. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

If you sell your home, then there is no place to go back to. So I recommend don’t commit to LOS yet, especially what I have seen this past month. I have lost confident in the government and I am not sure what is in will be the situation for these few months. So come and enjoy but wait and see till these situation fix this country or destroy it

Do NOT that's NOT sell your property, get rid of the car and other stuff but keep the bricks and mortar.

Rent out the house via an agent and turn it into an income source rather than a cost centre.

I have family "back home" that handles my property. I have one car in storage and sold the rest of the vehicles.

I have been back for one month in the last 7 years but I will never get rid of my property overseas.

Best offer I have had all year.

Now if you will just send me your bank details we can get started.

There are a lot of variables in deciding whether to sell or not. Age, financial circumstances, size of mortgage, etc, etc. No definitive answers to cover all situations.

I'm in the final process of selling my place after deciding I didn't want the hastles of renting it out. (I'm moving to LOS next month). I'm retired with a private superannuation income. I've decided I'd be better off investing the value of the house, and am confident the money will return much more than rental income. If I return to Oz I can comfortably rent a place better than the house I've just sold using this money. I don't feel the necessity of owning bricks and mortar any more. (Perhaps if I came from the economic basket case that is Europe, I would have different plans!)

I was going to store my car, but have just decided it would not make sense to keep paying rego, etc as it slowly deteriorates in a mate's backyard. Can always rent or buy another.
