Hi all, i must go to Bangkok, but i need to be at Onnut at 2 am 17.05. I have looked at bus schedules and it seems the last bus to BKK goes at 9 pm ?? Is there a later bus to for example the airport where from i can get the sky train ? Or is a taxi the only choice?

Does anyone have any suggestions please.

Thanks, Erik

yes i guess it has to be a taxi, but was hoping to save little money, thanks anyway

Seems a little bit suspect - having to go from BKK to On Nut at that time of the morning, with no flexibility on times.

A more robust alibi might be in order...

At least you've got a few days to save up, or work overtime, for the taxi fare...

Can't spring for a taxi? :)

Fail to see the amusing part of not wanting to spend too much, unless neccesary, perhaps you have more than you can use ?

I agree, why the deadline, don't the gals finish work at 1am these days?

Out of interest - where is On Nut?

I always think of On Nut station, but am I right in thinking that is actually in Prakanong, and On Nut is at the other end of the road of the same name, some distance heading out towards the airport?

Onnut is the current last station on that line. Prakanong is the one before it.

Correct. But I believe that On Nut station takes its name from On Nut Road, which is the main road that intersects with Sukhumvit there, and I am guessing that On Nut Road goes from there, out towards a village called On Nut which is now swallowed into the BKK suburbs.

I was hoping to verify or refute that guess.

There's some interesting suburban country out there; I once strayed - wandered, for the sake of avoiding misunderstanding - that way en route to the airport

I think Pra Khanong is further out and that neither station is actually in Pra Khanong.

having lived out that way on sukumvit 93 for some years which isnt far from onut bts it will cost you 250 baht tops. that is though if the driver wants to switch the meter on at that time of night, you being a farang and all.

Prakanong Police Station is on Sukhumvit Road, closer to On Nut than Prakanong Station, so I'm guessing that area is Prakanong, but maybe it extends a long way past On Nut Station...

I've never had a problem with using the meter at any time of night, though that depends where you start from, not where you end up. Generally, moving taxis are more honest than those that are loitering waiting for you - my experience in BKK, KL, and Singapore.

If you're anxious to save money, you could throw caution to the winds and try to persuade a motorcyco to take you - he might do it for half the price of a taxi-cab.

Now I think on it, I'm sure I've seen district boundary signs saying On Nut just south of the railway tracks alongside Rama IX expressway (the Chon Buri high road), either on Sinikarin Road, or much further out, on the big road suburban that runs North-South parallel to Sinikarin Road.

On Nut Sukhumvit 77 takes you straight to the airport one way or to On Nut BTS as said above 250 baht maximum

I seem to have forgotten to say that i am in Pattaya, and need to be at onnut station at 2am 17.05

I hope we're not helping plan some ghastly politically-motivated atrocity...

I can't see what appointment you could have in Pattaya that would be so important as to stop you coming on the bus to Ekamai, BTS down to On Nut, a dozen big Singhas in one of the beer gardens nearby, and you'll be ready for anything by 2 am. You might be wiser to come up to BKK in the morning, and make a day of it.

Ok mate, the station I get on and off the train daily is called Prakhanong but I will take your word for it. :)

Ah well, take the last bus and have a meal and a beer around Ekamai/ Onnut

Take the last bus (11pm) to Ekkamai station (buy a ticket in advance as it may be full), Get off at the On-Nut BTS (it's an official stop, saves you from going all the way down to Ekkamai and back) at 1am or so. The McDonalds there is open 24/7 and you can "enjoy" a coffee or burger while you wait for 2am to come.

No shit, I was reading the first bunch of posts OVER AND OVER AGAIN trying to figure out how these geniuses were giving you ANY kind of advice when they haven't got a flicking clue where you are coming from to get to On Nut. I was thinking either I'm really stupid or these guys are psychic geniuses. :)

I'm not psychic as in reading the OP I surmised he was coming from Chonburi/Pattaya area based on his location and wanting to stop at the airport enroute and he states he want s to get to BKK and On Nut versus saying he's in BKK and needs to get to On Nut by 2am.

But I agree with the post saying jump on the last bus from Patters to Ekamai and get off at the On Nut BTS stop and wait it out there. If the last bus leaves at 11pm and the bus takes 1.5 to 1.8 hours the wait time at On Nut will not be long.
