The Nation: A high-ranking govt source has told us that "crackdown is unavoidable now".

Sorry to see it come to this. This is what many of the red leaders wanted and they just might have it now. I hope Jatuporn and company are happy with their wishes.

No one will miss them if somthing happens to Jatuporn and company I am asure

Have you done the math? 200 Baht per day (some people are saying 500 Baht), but let's assume 200 Baht. Times 60 days, time 100,000 people at the peak ...that's more money than Thaksin ever had. Doesn't add up?

(500 x 100,000) x 60 = 3,000,000,000 baht

93,750,000 / 32 = $93,750,000

But let us do more realistic but very inflated math since protesters haven't averaged more than 30k a day, some are not paid and assume the average pay is 200 bhat. So, even at inflated figures ....

250 baht x 30,000 protesters over 60 days = 450,000,000 baht or $14 Million OR a TINY drop in the bucket for a multi billionaire trying to regain power, get $1.4 Billion in seized money back and on a revenge trip

Lets also not forget that it "appears" many folks have not been paid as promised while others have been told they will not be paid until they win. Also, Thaksin is not the only person funding this illegal mob. I believe the quotes from the red (correct me if I am wrong) were that this so-called rally costs them $1 Million a day.

I think it is actually going to happen tonight .. mind you still no word about the 57 armored vehicles

Thai TV just said 52, not 57. Did they already lose 5 of them driving from the barracks to Rajprasong?

So....????.....18:00 has come and gone.....whats happening.....or is it cry wolf again ??

CRES will be on TV just before midnight saying:

"Hah! We tricked you again! I bet you all believed it!"

If they do, they will have tricked all the journalists on the ground reporting. What we don't know is whether they will actually go in tonight or put this off until the weekend, or even carry it on into next week, canceling the opening of the schools.

One thing is for sure, if you live in Red town and want to go back into Bangkok, bring your passports or ID cards. If you leave, without the proper ID, you won't be allowed back into Red town. Right now, Red town is another country. It is being isolated. If you leave it, "immigration" wont' let you back in without proper ID.

Most of those in "redland", never understand where the money comes from. If no farang here, they would never have all this nice houses, new cars, where you see there in some places, and their daughters (or sons) would be not beable to support their families from the tourist places like Pattaya Phuket. They would working in the ricefields for 60 Baht a day instead of liiving a nice life in Pattaya.

Maybe i'm wrong, but my personal view: It's very common that many of peaple in "redland" only want money from farangs, but actually hate us. I stay here for 16 years, but i never travel to "redland" and i'll never support (directly) any families there. If things gonna heat up, maybe we foreigners have to move away. I'm happy that i never lock up money in any property overhere.

Agree with most of it when it comes to Pattaya 100%. I have lived in Pattaya almost 7 years and more then 20 holidays before that.

I stay here alone, no not barring around and pickups(EX) grown out of that a long time ago. Just live my life here in Pattaya as a single man.

I talk to many Thais here and yes they "hate" us, but it is pure envy, jealisy. They see us spend money on 1 evening that would be there mounth salary. I always tell them that Pattaya is biult by Farangs and if all farangs would leave it is bye bye Pattaya, close your malls, Mac, KFC, goldshops and yes even eventually all local thai restaurants, because Pattaya is 100% farangs money flow. But they don't think so of course. I could go on for ever like this, but you farangs who live here know how it is.

Pattaya has for years now been having less and less farangs, more crime, more violents, but they keep on building condo's and such. Even new malls keep on coming. Well that show how stupid some investors can be. Investing in Pattaya now days is no gamble just loss.

Most Thais will always lie to you and steal from you with any opportunity they get. Just hear all the stories and own experiences we all have had.

Any farangs whom says he has never been done by a Thai is a liar.

I hope today people stay safe and choose to go home

Many don't realize that while Thaksin is, probably, the biggest financial supporter of the Red Shirt protest, there are others, some of which are quite rich in their own right.

The financing is there for this protest. Whether the women and children actually get paid (maybe not the children) is questionable. However, it is now being reported that the core Red leaders, starting from the beginning of this week, are getting THB 5 million per day. This is one of the reasons that the core leaders keep saying they are one of the core leaders. There is a lot of money at stake if you are a core leader.

They aren't real monks as typified by this red monk at the rally:

25985101883159853134.jpg

Most gangsters, when the police gets too close to them, or immediately after a murder disappear up country and become a monk until the heat has gone. Killers, robbers can all be found in saffron robes - this one looks a typical example - real monks are not supposed to smoke and I wonder what is in the bag ? 9mm alms ?

Geez, Herm... your joking, facetious answer was actually spot on with true reality.... only a smidgen off was it a .38 and not a 9 mil.

this ''monk' is actually Prasit Sawasdee, a 41 year-old man who was later identified as a red-shirt security guard, was arrested for possession of a .38 pistol with laser grip and 35 bullets. Apart from the weapon, police found 50,000 bath in cash, brass knuckles and a membership card for the red-shirt security guards

Today Thai country People will face their destiny...

Poor country People, exploited during years and centuries by the Elite, but also exploited by ambitious politicians from both sides.

They have no choice they are there for begging a little improvement for tomorrow, more for the future generations than for themselves. Generously, they put their life at stake facing History and Eternity: I wish than tomorrow will not be a bitter day.

My deepest respect

More propoganda from Jerry.

The reds got a concession from the government for new elections. There was a fair and reasonable reconciliation plan on the table that was backed by everyone including their moderate members BUT not backed by Thaksin and his cronies. They spit on reconciliation and continue to hold the entire country's economy hostage. They are armed and violent and have shown this on many occasions. They don't deserve respect at all. They deserve to be removed from this illegal protest site and tried for terrorism, sedition, insurrection, treason, failure to comply with lawful orders etc.

Those found guilty of the big 4 deserve the consequences they have worked so hard for. Those that are only guilty of failure to comply with lawful orders should be given probation and sent home. A condition of the probation should be that they refrain from joining any gathering that is illegal for the next 10 years. should they join another illegal protest they should spend time in jail.

I wish that this could end without more violence but it is my firm belief that Thaksin needs more martyrs to gain his goal ... so he'll spend red lives like water if he needs to.

I expect that the first explosions will be M79's fired from the Red camp. :) If they could have just kept their fingers off the triggers they would have been sharing somtam across the barricades instead of shots.

My guess is the second explosion will be in the red shirt's boxers as they run and flee leaving all the lambs they have led to the slaughter behind.

CNN reporting red leader killed by sniper fire

Well, if its Seh Daeng, kudos to the security forces. If its not him, its probably one of the wavering 1st Gen leaders, conveniently taken out by Seh Daeng to blame on the gov't. Would be a master stroke but no one will have any sympathy for them.
