Red-Shirts Leader Seh Daeng Shot In The Head - Fighting For His Life In ICU - Video

You are totally and utterly wrong. The only time that a soldier (sniper) would shoot anybody in the head would be during a war

or possibly during the current State of Emergency if he could prove it was an act of self defence. If he could not show that he acted in self defence he would be charged with murder.

Could you also tell me when the trial that convicted Major General Khattiya of treason was held?

Major General Khattiya was unarmed and in the middle of an interview with a reporter. He was also standing quite near a group of policemen. The fact that the sniper aimed at his head is proof that he intended to kill the Major General and if found will be charged with murder. Likewise, the people who ordered the killing will also be charged with murder irrespective of their position in society. As the whole area is surrounded by the military it seems very improbable that the sniper was not a member of the armed forces.

As with the killings on 10th April the SDI (who are working as part of CRES!) say that they will carry out the investigation.

(I have used the word murder and not the term attempted murder as it is unlikely that anybody could survive being shot through the top of the head with a 7.64mm bullet).

Don't security forces (police/army) around the world sometimes take out criminals using snipers?

very, very rarely and only with proper court orders and permission from superior officers etc. they normally have to account for every shot/bullet used - they don't normally shoot unarmed people talking to the New York Times!

He was armed, he ALWAYS had a side arm and a stick.

He'd said as much earlier in the day.

It also would have been obvious since it was external and not hidden.

As a army renagade terrorist bearing arms,

he risked his life much more going out like that.

Sorry, no way I can read 35 pages to see if this has already been said, but seems to me that someone is taking revenge for the assassination of that Thai military officer, a while back, with the shooting of Sae Daeng.

its possible, he did say he had trained the men who did it

although i favor the 'from within his own ranks theory'

the bullet will tell the tale.........

I heard the red killed seh dang story too, and its seems to be supported by the interview he gave before he got shot which revealed major conflicts between red leaders.

to me it seems that he is in a conflict with the 'dove team' he mentioned, and i also heard that the 'dove team' wanted to accept PMs roadmap which Seh Dang was against.

Interview Link:

http://www.nationmultimedia.com/home/2010/...;-30129281.html

And, Seh Daeng spent much of the past few days linking Thaksin to every level of events, claiming Thaksin is against compromise, and that he and Thaksin together will take the militant road. As Thaksin is already aledged to have shot Sondhi, it's at least possible.

But I think this one remains a real coin toss. To many viable theories.

well he wasn't exactly threatening to shoot the journalist (was he? :) ) - anyway we already know he was a nutter - but shooting him in the head is a bit OTT and turns him into a Martyr (if and when he passes - v.likely soon).

Amazing, how this could have all been avoided if Elections would be held. :)

it's the Elephant in da room!

I'm afraid it isn't as elections are scheduled.

The elephant in the room is the timetable for Thaksin to seize control of the army leadership appointments before the end of the year.

That is the elephant.

The red apologists parrot something else, but we know the real song you are tweeting.

He should have been sent to Chulalongkorn Hospital, the very hospital around which he ordered barricades to be put back up after they had been taken down due to complaints from the hospital.

Then maybe we would be able to hear the doctors say today "unfortunately, he couldn't make it".

That those elections would not have been close to free and fair, unrigged,

and that it would have likely elected some actual terrorists into the Parliament,

with out the requisit 20 year waiting period to cool down,

is the BIGGER elephant in the room.

I wonder if somebody could give me the exact location of the spot where Seh Daeng was shot. Yesterday, I saw gate 2 of Lumpini mentioned but I don’t know where that gate is. It’s not that I want to go there, heaven forbid, but I would like to give the correct location for the video on YouTube.

If you know the spot, please use this map lookup tool to determine the geocode (latitude and longitude). Use satellite view, if necessary, to see the gates on the map.

Thank you!

No, not reporters, he was threatening to kill security force who were at that moment

moving to surround and expel the red encampment.

A clear and present danger to the security forces.

Under a state of emergency,

and live ammo was PUBLICLY stated as being used if necessary...

Defining 'necessary' may well depend on which side of

his groups weapons you would have been on.

But it is far from certain this was not an opportunistic 3rd hand

or his own side silencing him. He may well have been tying too many puyais to this.

In short, if the military shot SD it is an incredible clumsy and stupid maneuver.

It is almost so poorly executed that one has to assume it was rogue elements doing it on their own accord or someone that removed a competitor.

I would also be nice to know which direction he was facing as he was being interviewed.

So the excuse for not holding elections is that they wouldn't be fair anyways, so they shouldn't be held at all? Which fortune teller is the source? That's the lamest excuse I've heard for holding on to power at all cost.

No just the wrong time to allow a violent pressure group to dictate the election.

There is an election set for early 2011, we know this for a fact. PTP can wait.

Holding a forced election with the current level of red violance and intimidation,

would have been a recipe for a coup before 2011 was over.

And makes mob rule a defacto part of Thailands political process.

Can you imagine the Reds in Parliament and controling the executive after

this zealotous 2 months from hel_l, plus a vengeful Thaksin pulling the strings from the shadows.

The purges would be extrordinary, and the army WOULD pull the plug, but not nice like last time.

This weekends violence was coming one way or another... sadly,

the Red leaders made this oh so evident, too bad Veera wasn't listened to,

but better to end the hopeless cycle of mob rule here and now,

than have it become another coup later with even greater violence.

If he was shot in the head with a high velocity round (from some distance) then he would not have much of a head left. Looks more like low velocity from close distance.

Exactly ....high velocity bullet would have made his head explode.....so who did pull the trigger ??

afraid this is wrong, .308 HV ammo steel mantle = small entry and exit wound - the favorite sniper ammunition

pistol pt rifle round with soft core at close range through the head will have a small entry but a large exit wound

Though the .308 round is used for some sniper duties, it is also the number one favourite big game hunting round - especially in America. Point is, it doesn't require access to specialised military weapons.

Elections WERE held in 2007. They were offered for later this year. The terrorists didn't leave they just added more demands. I believe that Nov 14th has been taken off the table now so that means 2011 unless Abhisit gets generous again and offers them early, OR the coalition government that represents the MAJORITY of Thai citizens crumbles before then.

"This country has no chance of ever being a player on the world stage."

It's amazing how little coverage there is here in the US concerning the going ons in Thailand. More important is how little anyone here cares.

What a terrible thing. What a backward step for Thailand.

Abhisit never set that election date in stone, did he? Neither did he register it with the Election Commission. Neither did he offer an exact date to dissolve parliament (which is required to register the election date). It was a "bait & switch" deal, nothing more. On top of that, he set a huge list of things that had to be done before elections could be held, such as changing the army general, passing bills in parliament and completing investigations into the April 10 clashes, which we all know would take 2+ years. It's nice to see some people fell for the bait & switch deal, others fortunately didn't.

Thai troops battle protesters as crisis deepens

www.reuters.com%2001.jpg

(Reuters) - Thai troops opened fire on rioting anti-government demonstrators on Friday in an attempt to throw a security cordon around their protest site, turning Bangkok's commercial district into a bloody battlefield.

Troops fired tear gas, rubber bullets and live rounds at the protesters who hurled petrol bombs and launched home-made rockets on roads surrounding an area of luxury hotels and shopping malls they have occupied for nearly six weeks, witnesses said.

By nightfall, at least five loud blasts were heard followed by bursts of automatic gunfire in the business district. Armored personnel carriers were seen arriving in the area.

LOL

Red silliness?

He stated clearly when he would have an election. The law states clearly when parliament must be dissolved before an election. Abhisit confirmed that. The law mandates when and how things are to be reported to the EC. Your "huge list" of things does not exist on the roadmap. No mention of "changing the army general" but that happens in October. There was no mention of "completing investigations into the April 10 clashes" at all.

So ... basically just more lies.

or if the reds had gone home when a good deal was on the table..........

Hey ... it appeared that all the Red leaders were on board ---- then sae daeng started telling people that Thaksin didn't approve. Then the reds acted out!

but hey ---- there arre no more pretenses that this is about Democracy any more... it is strictly about Thaksin. I am sure we have all read what Thaksin has to say about Democracy ......

Obviously, you shouldn't talk about things you don't know anything about. Here are the roadmap points for you, as outlined by Abhisit, directly from the government website:

Feel free to ask a Mod where I am posting from :) A TOT connection in Chiang Mai :D Before Chiang Mai it was BKK for years. A year in Phuket.

Then again my credibility isn't an issue as I wasn't quoted in a news article copied and pasted into this forum.
