He only needs the support of the majority of MPs to be PM. As did Thaksin, Samark, and Somchai.

Not the same

In the case of Thaksin and Samak after a general election

In the case of Somchai , he just replaced Samak as head of PPP .

ummmmm no ...

In the case of Thaksin -- 2001 after a coalition was built and the MP's voted for him.

2005 -- no coalition needed because Thaksin had the political machines of several regional leaders behind him BUT still after a vote from the MP's

2007 ---- after a coalition was built and then a vote by MP's

2008 ---- using the coalition built before Samak was elected PM by the MP's ... the MP's voted again and picked Somchai (even though the PPP party was doomed to be disbanded for electoral fraud.)

2008 --- after a coalition was built and a vote by MP's

The LCD is that there was a vote by the MP's every time. The second most common denominator is a coalition was made.

in only 3 of the 5 was there a general election...

anyone complaining about the lack of an election in 2008 needs to blame the people responsible --- PPP. They could have dissolved parliament before they were dissolved.

It is getting ridiculous the excusses that the Farang yellow shirts are comming up with to justify the shooting of a 10 yr old child as we have seen thoughout these last 86 pages.

1. He was armed and threatend soldiers.

2. He was in a van speeding towards a check point packed with explosives.

3. He was in a van packed full of weapons.

4. he was in a van full of Red propaganda

5. He was outside the van and armed threatening soldiers

6. it was a school night and he refused to go to bed.

I am completely with you on this. I think the people that are staying in the Red zone hear the firefights outside and are afraid to venture out into it.

As for the street fight outside, that will be brutal as it already is, but it is going to get worse.

I cannot understand why the military does not put Bangkok under martial law (they can or Abhisit can) and then put a curfew on Bangkok (so all the stupid tourists know not to go outside) and then shoot anything that moves. Right now they keep complaining about how difficult it is to separate innocent bystanders from the Red guards and they can't make headway. That is their fault for trying to do the impossible. Make it a crime for innocent bystanders to go out with the proper warnings and then do what you have to.

The battles at Din Daeng and Rama 4 are probbaly for the approaches to Rachaprasong. The reds need to retake these so they can reinforce. PTP warlords control a lot of gangs in Pathum Thani and Samut Prakharn and if they can get these gangs into Racha Prasong the military operation will be hurt. To do so they need to control theaccess points. Right now they dont. With at least one case now of a red sniper being taken out and no pretence that they arent using weapons anymore it is going to be a big red push tonight if they can muster their gangs. Then it is just can the army hold overnight without seepage into Racha Prasong, if they do the reds are in trouble. Both sides are well armed. There wont be many wintesses and dont forget the military have also said there are anti-red gangs and red on red stuff too. It will be very complicated. With the reds grenading Lumpini police station it also seems the claims that Lumpini police had gone over were exaggerated.

I wonder how the English FA Cup final will impact on red mustering too

Whatever the reds claim of Abhisiys blood lust he clearly hasnt signed a clearance order and there is no way troops will do it without that legal cover. While the reds are also forced to come out of their stronghold to fight there isnt even a need for one too as they are attacking and the military defending. If a clearance comes roles change.

And no-one have claimed the kid threatened the soldiers, many have however claimed that he was hurt as an accident due to his location and that the van driver is ultimately responsible.

Hahaha!!!! Look at the DOUBLE STANDARDS at work here. It was just on the news that 27 red shirt protesters have been sentenced to 6 monhts in prison TODAY. They were arrested YESTERDAY. And what about the yellow shirts that took over the government house for 8 months and took the 2 airports hostage for 10 days? They're still not sentenced after 2 YEARS ..and one of their leaders is even the government's foreign minister!!!! I think this just tops it all, sorry.

Men in Black firing an M79(?) in a video: http://bit.ly/agMA2t /via @sternos @tulsathit

Peaceful reds :D but they only use their hands , how can this be can true must be photo shopped :)

Good video . No soldier dead so far . I have seen few other video showing army shooting

Now do you think killings by either side is going to put an end to divisions in Thailand ?

No. As has been pointed out to you and your comrades hundreds of times; that didn't happen. The yellows didn't overthrow the government. The minority parties switched sides- all perfectly legitimate. Please stop with your propaganda. You ain't fooling anyone.

The yellows did put pressure on the court to condemn the Somchai governement , that was the whole idea of invading the airport, else why do it ? .

Stop the BS

Is English your first language?

How important is that?

Apologies. I was referring to the fact that Pornsaai, twisted my quoted word 'overthrow' to 'put pressure on', which is plainly not the same thing. I did think that P was a non-native speaker though, so I thought that this might be because of poor English skills rather than him spinning. Having had it confirmed that English is not his 1st language, I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt.

You don't need excuses. Anyone speeding up when approaching an army checkpoint in these conditions is certain to be shot at. What the hel_l does he expect?

I also read a report in the Daily Mail (UK newspaper) today where the reporter stood next to a young man who aimed a laser pen at a soldier. The reporter wrote something like "he immediately fell to the ground after being hit".

Who in their right sense of mind would do such a stupid thing???

I severely doubt if the majority here support violence either by red gangs, yellow gangs or military. Most people want peace and would probably be quite happy to see the leaders of all the lunatic facist groups locked away and a bunch of poltiicans with them etc etc There are no good guys in this one. There are just shades of grey to black

Move one, there will be more innocent lives lost as long as the reds refuse lawful orders and continue to be a threat to the country and do not give back the billions of dollars in property they have stolen.

Not a copy and paste parliament adultered by the courts .

Not to mention Newin reputation

Now check with some british friends if you got any . They will tell you Abhisit has no popular mandate

It would seem very foolish for people to continue to get baited by those wanting to make this a political debate when it is about violent law breakers holding this country hostage and refusing to act civil resulting in authorities trying to pressure them to leave by surrounding their fortress and preventing more people from from entering the seized public area. The only problem is that they keep attacking authorities who have not entered the the seized area.

So there are absolutely NO misunderstandings - this is a photo taken through the hole in the wall towards where it came from.

The second photo is compass next to the hole, showing which direction it came from.

Building is on Rajaprarop Road, which is facing the southern enclave directly to the south ~ 500 m.

Too close for comfort...

Keep your head down, Tomaz - and stay safe!

[The 10-year old boy that got shot in the stomach was fighting the army? Give me a break. He was shot while his parents were driving in a speeding car, probably trying to get their family to safety as fast as possible. Instead, the soldiers opened fire on the car. There is no excuse. Stop looking for one.

Thats another one you have wrong RP, How many is that now, must be quite a high number.

The kid wasnt in the van he was on the street and had repeatedly been told by the troops to go home but would not.

Add to that that there was only the driver in the van and he smelled strongly of booze, he also had large knives and red propaganda in the van so where do you think he was trying to go?

Where were the kids parents that he was allowed to be in an obviously dangerous place.

I have every sympathy for the little kid but not for parents who would let him be there. They should be locked up.

So they shot him for not doing what he was told. Smells of dictatorship thanks for pointing that out. Simply shot for not obeying an older person.

The government and yellow shirts can do no wrong they have not made a singlr error of judgement throughout this whole ordeal. The ten year old was on the most wanted list in Thailand and had to be taken out.

Two of the sickest comments I have seen on this forum. Suggesting that the army would deliberatly target kids.

Absolutely reprehensible To try to make political capital from the injury of a child and the smile and hand clap only makes it worse.

But then those who would use kids that age and younger as human shields could possibly believe others could be as unprincipled as themselves

All Abhisit has to do to stop this is to call an election, how many more people must die before he does what he inevitably will have to end up doing?

Duuuuh, he did call an election. In mid-April, he offered to call it 13 months early. A week ago, he offered 15 months earlier (than is required by the Constitution). So even though he was bending to being dictated to by a violent mob, and even though the mob leaders agreed to it several times, the top mob boss nixed the idea - and so we're left with lethal violence on the streets.

Sorry, but you have the idiotic argument here. There have been 17 civilians killed and 0 soldiers killed.

First off, the people tossing grenades and firing combat weapons from the Red side can't be classified as 'civilians.' Secondly, just because no security troops have been killed yet, doesn't mean much except the troops are doing a better job of protecting themselves - even though they're using lesser weapons (they're not allowed to use grenades, as the Reds are doing). Any real civilians who are still mingling with the Reds are profoundly stupid or have a death wish, and any who still have kids in the mix should be publicly pilloried for child endangerment.

No excuse for shooting live bullets at unarmed civilians to kill them

NONE

If they have sling shot or throwing stones as they do then you use

tear gas , water cannon , rubber bullet at most .

No excuse here .

What may happen is that now some black or others

new players like police may start shooting at army .

Well if Abhisit wants civil war he will get it

Another "ignore" for someone who: a) obviously has never been on the wrong end of a barrel; and B) based on his appraisal that it is indeed Abhisit -- not Thaksin -- who wants civil war, is likely to be another of the many successfully recovered post-lobotomy patients actively posting on ThaiVisa.

battling with the army

And those inside who are not battling at all ..

two wrongs don't make a right (feel like talking to a 2 year old)

It was a different gov't when the yellows did what they did.

Should those yellows be in jail? Yes

Is there a legal way to pressure prosecutors to move forward? Yes

Does anything the yellows did make it right for a lawless mob to harm Thailand the way it has? No

Do authorities have both the authority and duty to take actions against the mob right now? Yes

"Children & elders make up 70% of protesters

Former senator and secretary of a children foundation Wallop Tangkhananurak issued a statement for red-shirt leaders to evacuate children and elders, which he estimated made up 70% of protesters at Ratchaprasong rally."

Taken from the update in another thread. This is so sick!!! Are these really tactics approved by the leadership of red shirt movement? If women and children get hurt, they have only themselves to blame, but if there are any mothers there with kids I totally could not understand it.

It is because the 'terrorists' are normal folks from all walks of life. They protest against the current government demanding elections, blocking one crossroad in bangkok.

And the government is sending out troops to shoot and kill them.

Of course it would make a better picture for the government if their 'terrorists' would be only a heavily armed para-military, ready to line up at a wall to be peaceful executed.

But the reds shirts aren't like that what the government want to paint them. Now you can continue to blame the civilians that got killed in the governments reply to the demand of new elections as even more disgusting.
