Thai Court Approves Arrest Warrant Against Thaksin On Terrorism Charge

It is a true shame that Thaksin is such a corrupt self serving individual and apparently now he's a terrorist. For he is truly a master of the political game. If he had only directed that political skill at the social ills of this country instead of at his families' fortune.

That he could master mind this tragedy from Europe and still find time to flaunt his ability to shop at a high end Paris boutique while the Bangkok elite are banned from the same ability by his own thugs, and now will be for some time. The symbolism in that one photo that was “captured” by someone in Paris that recognized Thaksin, is interesting.

This incredibly inept self serving government had ample opportunity to prevent or minimize the bloodshed. Were they able to do it; did they want to do it? No, they wandered into the well laid traps of his ambush as if compelled by their own arrogance and greed for power. Even after countless signs were put up on the trail prior to the ambush. “All these thugs want are bloodshed!” “They are not really negotiating, they are just dragging it out!” “These people don't want new elections. They just want to flaunt the government!” Thaksin knew that if his men taunted, challenged, and made them lose face he would get his bloodshed. You knew watching Ahibisit, on TV last week, that they were successful and that today was inevitable. It is interesting that after all this time, as soon as the government does a full on attack of the protesters (April 10 wasn't bad enough) the Red leaders throw up their hands and surrender. Now they will lawyer up, money up, and plead that their protests were entirely peaceful as they have been doing from the beginning. Claim that they were not associated with the men in black.

The men in black, I wonder how they will be tied to this, oh yea, Seh Deang. But he's dead.

Now the red shirts or what ever they re-incarnate themselves as in the next election, if this government can bring itself to have another election, will be using the images of this bloody crack down to entice the votes out of the poor ignorant red rabble that supports Thaksin and have won 3 elections already for him and his party. They won't even have to buy the votes. But I'm sure they will, just to be sure.

I don't want anyone to think that I admire Thaksin, I just don't think the current government is much different. They call Thaksin the number 1 criminal, only because he is so much better at it then the rest of the political leadership of this country. This attempt at placing a Terrorism label on him will be just as ineffectual as their handling of the "RED CRISIS!"

I just wish there would be someone in this country that would actually do something for the good of the country - all the country, not just Bangkok - without first taking their “share” off the top. Good Luck Thailand.

Excellent post :)

Terrorism charges will do wonders for national reconciliation. :)

The crackdown did wonders, didn't it? Things have really improved since. :D

I'm still firm on my belief that keeping the protesters at Rajprasong while keeping the negotiations going would have been a lot better for Thailand. Before it was just Rajprasong. Now it's still Rajprasong AND the entire country on top.

Just wondering why the Democrat senators that went to negotiate last night weren't given a chance. After all they had agreed on tri-party (government, senators & red shirts) negotiations in the morning.

to fire upon your own flag is unforgivable, and accepted by government,

a true sign of weakness,

there must be change and unity to prevent this,

The government and soldiers deserve nothing but praise. They gave the protestors every opportunity to walk away peacefully, but they declined, and stayed to whip up the crowd with their vitriolic rhetoric to the degree that the crowd was uncontrollable. The protestors (should we be calling looters and arsonists protesters??) came looking for a fight and got one. No sympathy for any of them.

The city and country bleeds because of their pig headed stubbornness to enter into dialogue. Interesting to read many Thai 'twitters' who are now refusing to donate blood as it will be used to treat injured 'protesters'. As Nattuwat said last week "Victory is inevitable" A fine victory indeed.

The problem with this is where in Thailand is a leader who can unify the people??

The most amazing thing is that Thaksin can apparently control the entire chaos in Bangkok while shopping at Louis Vuitton in Paris, but the government can't control the troops and bring the chaos to an end, actually being in Bangkok. Whatever he's using, iPhone or Blackberry, the government must get one of those immediately. I remember watching in the news, during the volcanic ash airport closures, the Norwegian PM said that he was running the country from his iPad while stuck at the airport.

Terrorism charges will do wonders for national reconciliation. :)

It actually should do wonders in terms of starting to show what a corrupt evil little man he is and help the feeble minded who fell for the BS of putting him in a higher light than the average man. Basically to a status of being worshiped. They need to be woken from their sleep and see this man for what he is and how he used them for his own gains.

Are all of you commenting completely clueless? You think any of your calls for "justice" etc are ever in a million years going to happen here? "Bring Thaksin to justice!" Man, you guys live in this country for years and yet know NOTHING!

And you think you do? Just asking.

A bit hard to expect calm in a raging storm, but hope there is still some level headed people in the military, because that will be who is really capable of getting things under control, albeit, many will be looking at their next life or bare the scars for the rest of their lives with this unfortunate option.

I dont want to drive a Bangkok registration number plate on my car to Chiang mai and other north and north east provinces.

This will be ugly

Frankly speaking, they are.

At least things have ruled out from a dead-end soi (by a high cost, but they really are).

Time to call in the big time high priced BOUNTY HUNTERS.. Have Gun Will Travel..

Raise the Bounty on his head to 1 million+{Dollars} and then maybe someone would go after him. I am sure there are many People in Bangkok that would be happy to pitch in, and the pot would probably grow into the millions. {Dead or alive}

How very sad that most of the people participating in this thread actually believe all the propaganda. This is not about Thaksin. Yes, he is a figurehead because at the beginning of this fight he was the only one who stood forward and had money to support a movement. But it has become much bigger than Thaksin - but the government (and this is where you people are so stupid) is still using him because they want to tarnish him. The government knows how popular he is in the north and Isaan and want to diminish his power.

This is about democracy and equal rights. Not Thaksin. You stupid stupid people.

Well I won't resort to calling anyone stupid but I do think that somebody calling other people stupid because of their own opinions and without any facts to back up their statement kind of needs to look at themselves hard in the mirror. To suggest this is much bigger than Thaksin is ludicrous, he has financed this from 'go to 0' and not because he is some hero of democracy because simple he isn't, he has done it all for Mr Thaksin and thats that. He eroded people's human rights, he raped and pillaged this country for the gain of his family and himself. The leaders of the Reds changed their stated goals at every opportunity all because of who was pulling the strings. They themselves belonging to the so called 'elite' They duped the poor rice farmers of Isaan and Thaksin duped them when they first put their hand out to take his vote-buying money. Negotiations and peace were never in Thaksin's mind, only trouble and strife and the destruction of a parliamentary system that he benefited the most out of. What would have been left was a lovely vacuum for this hero of democracy to return and set up his own little fiefdom. Grow up, and the only person who has the right to call me stupid is my wife and thats enough for me.

It will stir up more violent red shirts, but what will it do for national reconciliation? Nothing.

And it won't help either to extradite Thaksin.

I'm pretty sure supporting and planning assassinations is not only against the forum rules, but also against the law.

Bangkok registration number plate on cars or busses to Chiang mai and other north and north east provinces will easily be next targets.

This will end up ugly now after they chase them home to their provinces

Thai Court ordered to suspend (only) Thaksin on terrorism charges after already approved for 2 hrs:DSI chief Tarit via @NNAnews

wait, it's gonna be replaced with treason charges. The govt doesn't have to make up stories, it was visible for the world audience and this for months. Even though his calls (secret) were taped they will most likely be not accepted by the courts. But he's ready for serious treason charges in any way.

According to the Reds from round 1 negotiation with the government were doomed because they refused to rule out terrorism charges, making it impossible for them to sign. They weren't asking for amnesty, just no terrorism charges.

This now, and how quickly it came, seem to validate their claims.

You need to wake up from you sleep and see that even if Thaksin is a factor the anger and resentment goes much much deeper and if there is no reconciliation the divide is only going to get worse.

The Post has reported that the court has withdrawn the warrant against Thaksin and will reconsider it on 25 May. The other warrants stand.

They withdrew the one against Thaksin but not the ones against the other individuals?

Nobody is ever going to send Thaksin back to a murderous third world right wing dictatorship.

why is he in london now laugh against your silly charge. have lawyer now going to cause big finiance problem for thai elites who have money they steal from poor and buy house in london and europe. watch for this.

surprise me that intellegent falang cannot see this is just for use as propaganda on poor farmers. farmers not believe it because they not buffalo like falangs.

Well I agree ALL those elitists robbing Thai people and buying houses, football teams, expensive shopping in western capitals etc want removing from Thai Government as they do not serve the people at all. When are some of you Thai people going to see this is exactly what Thaxsin is doing too as one of the biggest elitists there are and his family, aids and close friends (has he got any close friends as I believe even before he was PM he stitched up his old best pal from what I read here some while ago; what a nasty elitist right wing guy he is ). I think most falangs here are actually very well educated and intelligent enough to see this all perfectly clearly, there are just too many facts to make it irrefutable, sure also the usual suppositions too. Heck I support more socialist principles personally so I am more akin to Red Shirt political philosophy than the Democrats here but cannot support terrorism and feel Abhist has been a fair and honourable man in all of this in the circumstances. BUT no no no not Thaksin he is not a peoples leader at all as he is just clearly a crook who steals from the Thai people for his own gain, a terrorist and a real nasty person and as right wing as you can get. I cannot see how any sane person without a underhand monetary agenda can possibly believe that Thaksin is a hero, it is just totally incredible and unbelievable. If Thaksin really does care about Thailand and its people well why does he not offer to give up all his totally unneeded riches and give it back to Thailand to rebuild it and help the people, he could still keep 5% of what is left and have more than most well off people have anyway.

They should indeed confiscate any other assets he has here and freeze them pending trial and if found guilty indeed use such funds to rebuild some of the destroyed parts of Bangkok, that would be justice so he compensates his fellow Thais who have all lost out by his purported and most likely factual actions and

what you falangs miss is that a few elite run thailand.

you cannot understand because just see smiling face of girls in bars and think because you are on buying side rather than selling side you are part of hi so elite.

this thread about warrant is just so funny to us SCANDINAVIANS!

Does it?

I'm a SCANDINAVIAN too and don't find it amusing at all!

Det är dags att det här eländet får ett slut!

(It's time to get an end to this misery!)

he was in france last week end buying a louis vuitton bag for his daughter...

call sarkozy...

I am still not convinced he will be convicted or even arrested. They seem to be throwing out arrest warrants here and there.

Now Arisman has been arrested and transferred to Border Control Police (or something like that). We have seen just how inactive the police have been recently. Why wasn't he transferred to the military camp at Hua Hin together with the other leaders? I am sure he'll e out on bail tomorrow and out of the country within hours.

Edit Just seen that it's Naresuan border patrol police camp in Phetchburi

I must agree with you and add that I dont really believe that they want Toxin back. He represents a much greater security risk here than he does abroad. Maybe that is why the Government attempts seem so limp wristed? Word is he is terminally ill but perhaps a Russian style heart attack or a sip from a poisoned chalice might be the best solution?

I see fascism is alive in well in the Thai visa forum!

How dare you call people fascists. Is that the usual response for somebody that disagrees with another person's opinions. I am in no way a fascist but I did endure years of developing the tourism industry in Thailand and under Thaksins rules. I respect other peoples opinions. Thaksin and his very very good mate Seh Daeng had other plans for Thailand and they resemble a lot more like fascism than the opinions expressed here.

Go away

You are really one of the biggest axx hole I have ever seen to encourage for the attack.. What will you feel if you family or anyone die for just protest? You should be ashamed for your entire life who posting this comment..

An old and very predictable singing, targeting to feelings but not to logic.

If you bro is SO smart to understand th protest - will you do all of your best NOT to involve your family into all of this rent-a-shit, and NOT to let them join this prepaid show? Especially put your own kid in front of the barricades, and hiding on his back.

If not - than you're just a dreamin' idiot, sorry to name the things.

The same goes for pro-red families around the country. Seems now they will not get their expected 100Kbaht/family reward - accounts are frozen, ATMs are closed, gov is not going to leave.

I wonder if FaceBook and Twitter will also face legal charges on the basis of assisting terrorists, as they have now apparently been banned by the Ministry of Information & Technology.

:)

I'm using TOT and both Twitter and Facebook works fine. Just tested it!
