My Thai wife and I have planned to move to UK permanently next year. We have been together for 10 years (registered at Amphur) and have a 2 years old son (holding both Thai/British passports).

I think my wife would have to get a settlement visa. I still don’t understand a few points;

1. On what major criteria does the embassy consider to grant a settlement visa? and;

2. How likely my wife would be granted the visa? and;

3. Is it possible for my wife to travel to UK on a tourist visa and, subsequently, apply for the settlement visa in UK?

We both are self-employed and earn approximately 60,000-70,000 Baht per month and we will continue doing this when we move to UK.

If she meets the criteria, and shows that she does, she will be granted the visa.

No; visitors cannot apply for settlement while in the UK. She must apply in her country of residence, i.e. Thailand.
