A coup by any other name?

The state of emergency lingers on, thePM warns of threat from “Terrorists” - and the military are thestill the main power in the country.

Clampdown is the key rather thanconciliation; window-dressing seems to be the governments answer. TVand media try to invoke a message of “if you don't join in youaren'y a real Thai” with soft focus nationalistic marsh-mallow-likestories and scares about the alternatives

Bangkok washes street and plantsflower-beds – (but what would happen if you joined in wearing a redshirt??)

A few weeks back Thailand could claimto being an albeit shaky democracy – but after the unrest it lookslike the army has quietly taken over again and without any oppositionhave staged another coup and installed their preferred PM – luckilyfor them he was already in situ.........

Didn't you already try this thread once before?

Conciliation Or Clampdown? - Thailand Forum

No, There hasn't been a coup since 2006 when the military removed an extra-constitutional caretaker PM that had resigned and then reappointed himself (and who has since been soundly convicted of abuse of power and had assets seized because he gained them illegally.

I know i shouldn't have responded to a thread this obvious ... but hey, it is a slwo night!
