I'm in the UK just now and have the chance to buy a navman. My question for you guy's that know about these things is. Will I be able to purchase/download Thai maps when I get back to Thailand?

No, Navman do not have maps for Thailand. I had the same problem, I sold my Navman and got a Garmin 1390T instead.
