Emissions/Tax/Yearly Car Check Prices?

FlatOut

Recommended Posts

Need to take the car to get its yearly check over by the transport people. Emissions, etc are checked. Can someone tell me how much this is, I've completely forgotten.

At Chiang Mai near big Tescos, that transport place.

Thanks in advance

Assume the price should be the same. LTO in Chonburi, 200 Baht for checking a car.

Tax and obligatory insurance will depend on type and age of the car. (7 year old Isuzu D-MAX, about 500 in insurance and 5000 in road tax.)

Yep, I'm not going until late but will be over that way on Monday too, so I'll check in. Just it's quite a drive for me, so I thought I'd check on here first :)

Are your tax and insurance numbers the wrong way round? Just my insurance is far more than that (8k)

I should have mentioned that my car is a 4-door, so it's quite a bit more expensive than a 2-door.

Tax at LTO is close to 5,000. The obligatory insurance is 500, this is the insurance you have to buy before you can pay the road tax.

Then I have an additional 1st class third party insurance, I pay around 10,000 for that one.

So not the wrong way around, just three different fees to pay each year. :)

Thanks for the answers guys, my memory just completely went blank.

Transam - I love cars - not jeeps or offroad things which never see any hint of mud or dirt in their lives. In the UK I had a Mini with an MG Turbo engine (still going strong today) but sold it, but my mk2 escort I still kept for sideways duties. Maybe I'm just 'old-skool' but I don't find new cars or tanks very interesting, I say again - it was just an opinion and I thought you being a fountain of V8/muscle car knowledge would have been on a similar playing field blink.gif

MMmm, two separate threads champ, but I get what ya mean biggrin.gif

The other thread was about some VW abomination, this one is about emissions testing in CM.

btw - I'm an easy going (Mai pen rai ) type, but I think my TV posts aren't really showing that plus I like to see your posts about muscle cars so I didn't mean to get on the wrong side of anyone whistling.gif

Apparently so.

In the other thread referred to you actually wrote "The only way to get around Thailand is on a bike, so I have a bike. (I do have a car but I'm selling it as it's a waste of time here)". Maybe you are renewing your tax and insurance before selling your car. Maybe not ...
