June 13, 201016 yr Does anyone know where to find acetylene in Khon Kaen? My local LP guy sent me to a place named something like Samboon in downtown KK, but they were not helpful. Didn't seem to know anything. The locals are using Oxy-Propane for cutting, but I'm not sure it's even good for brazing. Ideas anyone? tnx, TG
June 13, 201016 yr Sorry, no idea where you can get acetylene but way back (when dinosaurs roamed and I was an apprentice) we used to braze with natural gas and compressed air so I suspect oxy-propane would actually be over the top, a regular propane torch with a big nozzle would probably do just as well "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
June 13, 201016 yr Fuels Oxy-fuel processes may use a variety of fuel gases, the most common being acetylene. Other gases that may be used are propylene, liquified petroleum gas (LPG), propane, natural gas, hydrogen, and MAPP gas. Many brands use different kinds of gases in their mixes. Note: there is not a single gas called "oxyacetylene". This info is taken from this WIKI site Oxy-fuel welding
June 13, 201016 yr Author Thanks, I'm getting out my largest tip, and the brazing rods tomorrow. Just got back from Global House, they have a small setup with a 5.5? acetylene Tank. No replacement tanks to buy or swap. They do say that gas is available about 30 kilom down rte 2 in a village called tapah อำเภอ ท่าพระ KK. Sounds like a road trip in the cards. TG
