It seems some (taxi drivers) ride on "prepaid" tickets....ah' well...as BigC wrote...

what u going on about ????

Posted

The very worst fo rme are the long wheel base mini buses owned by the resorts. The drivers think they have a licence to kill, push you or squeeze you off the road as they cut in.And just a general "bitch" here about the crazy thai drivers(young guys on bikes) who seem to have no idea about when to over take and when it might not be a good idea. And just to even things up,the young farang tourist on his first scooter/motorbike.

Riding a bike/scooter on the ring road is definitely "stressville"

Also keep clear of the Canopy Adventures pickup truck. The way this guy drives, he should never be permitted to carry passengers. grrrr !

he nearly hit me last night !, was over taking with on coming traffic coming his way IE me !

The newest thrill ride on the island seems to be those safari / tour companies who have stuck bench seats like you sit on for an elephant ride, on top of the cab of their knackered old land rovers. I was on my way to Namuang a couple of weeks ago when one came flying past in the opposite directionheading towards Hua Thanon. Fully loaded back and 2 western women on top of the cab with a young girl of approx 5-6 years old seated between them. They seemed to be enjoying the wind blowing through their hair, whilst all i could think about was the velocity which they would fly through the air should the driver suddenly have to hit the brakes! But what posesses these people to take such risks whilst on holiday that they would never take in a million years of their every day life?

I also recently saw a farang guy come off his high powered sports bike in the drizzle going down the hill by Big Rock Restaurant. How the bike didn't take out one of the passing trucks once he had let go i will never know. Luckily the rider was wearing a sensible leather jacket, proper helmet and oh.......Flip Flops!

But i do have to giggle at the no shirt, first time scooter guys on holiday who whiz round the island with their mates and think they are really cool. However, when that eveining they discover their very crispy chest and nipples due to the the reflection off the wing mirrors, some must wonder what posessed them!

Seconded, he nearly took me off my bike last week!

I have made two or three complaints to Canopy Adventure's staff about their newest driver. He drives past my house several times a day... like a bat out of he...ll....

I did notice that he was driving a little slower today, my last complaint was two days ago...

The Jungle Truck drivers are just as bad.... on Soi 5 & 4 around the Maenam Temple, there are many kids heading home from Skool, when the trucks/ jeeps are heading back around 3.30 pm. :annoyed:

Well done for making a call to complain. I know this is a negative comment but considering their drivers have been serial offenders for months and months, i get the impression that they will already have had numerous complaints and infact don't give a toss.

this video clip below shows a pickup truck crashing with passengers on it, god forbid this should ever happen here, but it is an accident waiting to happen

Horrible video but shit like this happens all the time around Thailand, just follow the newspapers and you will have an idea how these accidents look like.

This pick up was driving too fast down the hill and didn't calculate for the heavy overload.

Very scary!

Saw a public opened top truck (like an open top baht bus but much bigger) overturn whilst going round a bend in Bangkok years ago. Wasn't even going at speed but ridiculously overloaded. Several people crushed.

Can I join complaing about KPG roads too?

Mitusbishi blue color Morning Star Resort driving Bantai-Thongsala at warp speed. I meet him already 2 time and both I was very close to a contact.

Driver is an overweight farang

They argue in in the station house or court.

If you (falang) would have been at home,

and not here in racer country (layland),

there wouldn't have been an accident!

Ergo :" Your (falang) false! You pay!"

logig, ain't it?!?  :)

in the thai law book written in english. it helps if u have all the valid car documents/ number 1 inssurence and a thai driving liscence.

if u have all these things then u don't have to pay at all.

in the law book. the thai law says that if u do not have a thai driving liscence then it is the foreigners fault for not knowing the laws of the road in thailand.

not my opinum just the law.

Oh, no phone call! , to Canopy Adventures, I often hike up to the Secret waterfalls, (lovely walk up the creek) so I know the staff quite well... (nice bunch of guys & one lady! always friendly & helpful)..... I often take visitors to the Zips line too.... great fun,

It's just the driver needs to learn to so more road sense!

But some thing must have gone through the " Bongo drums" about this post.

Today, the blue Canopy A T truck & the Safari trucks were driving much slower along my Soi today.... they must have held up traffic on the Ring Road!& the farang monkeys in the trucks, must have been late getting back! :(

in the morning around 9 am i drive the chewang beach road towards centara and the drivers for the company with the old land rovers make me feel like they want to see what i ate for breakfast, the way they drive up the rear of my truck. typically i pull over to let them pass just to see them turn into a resort 50 meters down the road. they usually have a co pilot, i have found both driver and co pilot to have very aggressive attitudes when confronted about their driving, never the less on the off occassion i still stop and have a word with them. ;)

just to keep the forum balanced. is anyone here willing to put there hands up and admit to driving drunk. i doubt anyone wants to name and shame themselves but lets face it we have all done it. shame we need police to tell us what to do. Maybe a start to making the streets safer would be to look at our selves. remember a good driver is always aware of other drivers and is ready to anticpate everything

Lif is a terminal desease, as Buddhists say. Enjoy it as long as it lasts. :D

Edit: Ooops, the post I answered to has disappeared, impermanence at work.

very well balance complants and complaints about my grammer and my point. thanks. i think ?????

also i don't think that naming people will shame people out here. even though we might know who they are do we really have the power to make them drive safely. this whole thing is a waste of time. we all know who they are we can't exactly avoid them only avoid hitting them. have seen allot of people on motor bikes doing nothing wrong waiting to turn right. on the right hannd side of the road as far right as possible abd they still get taken away by a truck who is not looking. think the only safe way to turn right on a motor bike is park on the left and wait till it is clear cause if a truck does not see u he simpley drives straight through u.

True BigC, they are not remotely interested in what we say, and neither will they ever be. ;)
