Ps3 Vs Xbox 360 Vs Nintendo Revolution

This year and early next year will see the release of the next generation gaming consoles.

Being a die hard Nintendo fan, I will definatley get the Revolution. And, with the ability to download NES and N64 classics, I can't see any reason to be interested in the other 2. Revolution with its wireless controllers and online play makes it even more attractive. This will be released next year.

So, lets hear other opinions on these new consoles.

Nintendo is good but here in Thailand it is hard to come by the original games and the "back up" games for that matter, for that particular platform. It is also geared to a younger audience. The Sony paltform is geared for more experienced and and older age group....with a larger selection of fighting games and sports games.....The Microsoft console is also great.....I would have a hard time choosing between the two...

I will disagree with you. Firstly, Nintendo is not for kids. I dont know where you get this info. And anyways, please define a kids or child game and an adult game for us. Sony and XBox have their share of children games also. And what is so good in blowing people away with guns and hitting them over the head with clubs? And what does experienced gamer mean? I have spent hours playing Metroid Prime and the Zelda series and they challenge all of us.

I have been a long time Nintendo fan so I know my stuff. Mario, Zelda etc... Grew up with them and I still have yet to come across any series like them on the other consoles.I get original and backup games here in Thailand regularly. I have had more fun with my friends playing Nintendo than the other consoles combined. The games are crafty and hilarious. SO saying Nintendo is for kids is not true and misinformation. Im in my 30's. I just find Nintendo creative. I mean how many soccer/football games can Sony create? Or driving games or gothic horror crap?

Downloading may be done off the computer through USB ports and then plugged into the console. Buying it online. I never been a fan of the PS series.

Nothing beats an evening of 4 guys sitting around with beer and chicken wings and duking it out in Super Smash Bros Melee, SOul Calibur II, MArio Golf, MArio Tennis, or my new favorite Wario Ware Min Games. The laughs keep rolling in as the beer gets consumed as u look stupid playing these games. Heck, Super Monkey Ball 2 is awesome stuff. All this beats going out and hanging out at some sukmvit bar. Anyone else agree that Nintendo makes a party?

It's just way too hard to get games OTHER than playstation in Thailand.

It's almost impossible. You walk in and ask about a game and they pull out a book of 200 + playstation games.

The Nintendo isnt going to be High Definition, so graphics will be limited to 720x480, whereas the XBOX360 will be able to play at 1280x720 or 1920x1080, which is between 4 and 9 times the resolution. Nearly all new decent TV's are High Def, so I dont understand Nintendo sticking to the TV resolution of 20 years ago.

AH, a Nintendo fan boy. I was wondering if I would meet one of you here.

I like the idea of the Revolution but the controler they have created just plain sucks. I have no idea how one could even use this thing with the older games.

Xbox 360 is a rip off. You can't play older games on it! I wil wait for it to get cheaper and have more titles and support before I spend my money. I will get though, I need to play Elder Scrolls IV.

If I even get the money to buy any of these systems I will spend it on the PS3. I like the game selection and and the fact I can play all my PS games.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they will sell an old school type controller. I remember playing Goldeneye using both joysticks to control movement and the gun. It was great. The idea of the XBox not being backward compatible turned me off immediately.

As far as PC games versus the console games... no comparison. Tough to have a bunch of dudes and sometimes some ladies come over for some action on the PC. Getting togther for a video game party with a few drinks is better than a nite out in any bar in Thailand. Super Smash Bros Melee, Super Monkey Ball 2, Mario Party, Donkey Konga, Wario Ware, MArio Tennis etc.... These are party games and the fun and laughs go all nite. If you want strategy games. PC games. Fun factor= Nintendo Gamecube.

In terms of the XBOX360 Its as powerful as the most up-to-date PC's out there in terms of gaming (The graphics are more powerful than a 7800GT card - which costs more thna the entire XBOX360).

Consoles will never take over gaming from PC's, a PC is so modular and thats the beauty, the one-shoe-fits all computing doesnt suit gaming particularly well. Also because its modular you can swap out hardware for the latest in cutting edge processors, soundcards, graphics cards etc..

Also, some games are just meant to be played sitting at a desk with a mouse and keyboard, RTS games for starters.

Not really. What you have picked is so close to Nintendo style, however, I think you would enjoy Jax & Daxter as well as Rachet & Clank. Both are really fun platformers. Also the last Oddworld installment on Xbox called Stranger's Wrath. That game would be more like Turok I think.

I see you posted Turok, does this mean you like first person shooters? In that genre I love Republic Commandos and Call of Duty, very , very good ones.

Next year the makers of Viewtiful Joe are releasing a game called Okami. It would take to long to explain here but believe me when I tell you that it will be one of the most beautiful games ever done for the PS2. Go look that one up.

I see you also put down Animal Crossing. I can't think of anything that is like that but if you like open-ended game play than Knights of the Old Republic, Jade Empire, Fable, Elder Scrolls III Morrowind and Neverwinter Nights are all for you. Do whatever you however you want and I don't mean beating hookers.

True, but RTS is all that is left for the PC. Half-life went to consoles too and others will follow. I know computer geeks will stand by their systems, but most people don't fck with switching crap out all the time to keep up. Also, some people don't have the money to keep buying parts for their PCs. If a consoles can do what a PC can do, and you don't have to buy parts and switch them out, or pay someone to do that, why screw with a PC at all?

Yes but thats always been the status quo, They keep upgrading consoles but PC's are always a step ahead, They said something similar when the playstation came out.

The most important thing is that I can still play on my PC today, EVERY single game I have ever bought for any PC ever. For Consoles to compete with PC's they would have to come out every year and be fully compatible with games from 3-4 years ago as well AND surf the internet (properly), send emails and word process etc...

Yea I am a true Nintendo gamer. However, I have a PS2 and I thought Ratchet and Clank was superbly done. I love the long adventrue games. I am into first person shooters but more along the line of shooting monsters and stuff like that. Of course Goldeneye for teh N64 is still what all FPS are compared to. Thats why I loved Metroid. I am not into car racing, football, and fighting. Except of course, Super Smash Bros Melee which is a great fighter for any party. I love long dventure games done in the Zelda style. RE4 was a let down. I dont like RPG. Sports games are fun if they are fast. NFL Blitz, NHL Hitz etc.. The Mario Tennis is great 4 person party game and the Mraio Golf is done well. I have The MArio Baseball but only good if playing witha friend. MArio Strikers will be good also.

I am not into the realistic look or outstanding graphics. I like gameplay. Case in point. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. Now this game scared the crap out of me. Not great graphics, but the story and the sounds made me cower in fear. Now that is what makes a great game!
