Thailand to investigate Indonesian navy's sinking of Thai fishing ship

BANGKOK: Thailand will investigate the Indonesian navy's sinking of a Thai-crewed ship last week as it fished illegally off Java, the Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said Sunday.

Eighteen Thai fishermen were also arrested in the incident while one tonne of fish the alleged poachers had caught was destroyed with the Indonesian-registered ship.

"The incident may have been an over-reaction or not. We need to check the background," he said after ordering the Thai embassy in Jakarta to undertake an investigation into the matter.

Scores of Thai nationals have been caught stealing fish in Indonesian waters over the past few years as the kingdom's own fishing stocks have become depleted through over-fishing.

If the Thais were in Indonesian waters fishing and were in fact breaking the law, then what is the bitch?

It also states that the Thai know nothing about conservation and limiting catch of specie to allowable limits so that the specie can sustain its self and therefore maintain a constant supply.

Over fishing is a world wide problem,Canada has allowed the fishing on the grand banks to go to such an extent that the banks are almost sterile.

The USA has allowed the japs and Russian fishers to fish out a number of specie to extinction and limited American fisherman to very small catches while the japs and Russians still lay off shore and set Gil nets on the salmon runs at the major rivers until very few fish make it to the spawning grounds.

Mexico doesn't enforce any laws to the size or season of the Mexican fisherman for ab or lobster and the fishery is dying.

It seems as tho very few country's enforce the 200 mile limit on foreign fisherman,

The japs and Russian fisherman have deleted the king crab in the north sea off Alaska, wont be long til all fish will be aqua-culture raised or there won't be any as the wild fishes are about gone world wide, country's do just as Thailand has done, over fish their own waters and then go to some other country's waters and fish it out and fish all specie to extinction.
