Extraterrestrial Beings Are คนจากโลกอื่น

I see that alien (extraterrestrial beings) มนุษย์ต่างดาว is defined in Lexitron as คนจากโลกอื่น ... and so it seems the implied classifier is คน (people)
This strikes me as being out of charater for Thai classifiers and I would expect it to be ต้ว, instead (as it is for animals and mannequins) .. thinking that extraterrestrial life forms could be blobs or arthropods.

So the question is ... can the definition be คนจาก. . . but the classifier be ต้ว? The key here is the word มนุษยื which is Thai for human, so if you have a human which is from another world it should be a คน classifier.

If you were to search just the word ต่างดาว you would see that the definition is some kind of life form from another planet. However, i am unsure about which classifier to use for that, although i am sure if you saw one you would then be able to decide for yourself whether to use คน or ตัว. :)

In response to your question about whether you could use ตัว with คนจาก, i would guess no as it has already been specified as คน and you therefore have to use คน as the classifier also.

Isn't it interesting that ต่างดาว means "alien from outer space" whereas ต่างด้าว means "alien as a non-citizen"?

As the classifier for kinnaree (กินรี)can be either คน or ตัว (according to Classifiers, at Learning Thai), I presume the same choice would apply to sentient aliens, depending on how one related to them.

I think you've mis-read that there, the classifiers read ตน and ตัว for that mythical creature.

I see! ต่างดาว, i.e., creatures from outer space are not mythical creatures, therefore them must be sentient beings whose classifier is คน. Q.E.D.

I suspect the word is ฅน using kh khon the obsolete consonant. Kinnon (the male of the species) is, according to my dictionary, of two kinds, one is half human half bird in appearance. The other is human in appearance but attaches its wings and beak when it needs to fly. It is classified as อมนุษย์ or non-human and therefore คน doesn't seem like a very appropriate classifier. There are, of course, other classifiers for sentient beings รูบ, for example.

Let's not forget the classifier ตน (dton) for zombies ผีดิบ (pee-dip)

Why not khon or dtua? Zombies are semi-humanish. (I've always wanted to write semi-humanish. Describes people I've known, too.)

Reason for edit: trying to clean up formatting characters
I think the classifier is still ตน, this being the classifier for ghosts, giants and hermits. I found another entry that says it is for angels and demons.

Sorry, I was using too low a resolution.
