Richb2004v2 Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 When I installed my copy of Ubuntu I think I inadvertently set a password. Now every time I boot up I am asked for this. I think it asks for password for 'keyring unlock' or something. I know it and once entered it moves forward and connects to the net and all is fine. It's not the internet security password, which I know and it a different word. The problem is I set quite a long password and my wife is complaining as she uses it quite a lot. It's only a small annoyance but one I would like to cancel. I checked in 'System', 'Preferences', 'Encryption keyrings' but that doesn't seem to do it. I also recently reinstalled Ubuntu on my other laptop. Although I certainly didn't set up a password on this one I am again been asked for one after boot up. This time since I don't have one I just press deny or OK half a dozen times and it lets me proceed. Any ideas?
rakman Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 If I understand you correctly, try this: http://maketecheasier.com/auto-unlock-keyring-manager-in-ubuntu-intrepid/2009/03/14
Richb2004v2 Posted July 3, 2010 Author Posted July 3, 2010 Thanks for that. I think that should work. However, I updated my Ubuntu with over 300mB of downloads and since it seems to have somehow sorted itself. If it happens again though I will try your instructions. Thanks.
