Travelling To Lao With 2 Thai Friends

i ll go to lao with two of my thai friends but they are 19 and 20 years old

do they need any paper from their parents?i mean they are under 21 so do they need anything special like a letter from parents allowing them..also what about the visa for thai people?can get it at the border same as foreigner?

Thai people don't need visa for Laos.

As long as they have passports, nothing is needed from their parents.

Well, it's true that Thais don't need visas for Laos, but it has nothing to do with Laos being on their border. Thais needed visas for travel to Laos -- at least beyond the border areas -- for years and years before they recently loosened things up.

Thais do not even need passports to travel to Laos... a 3 day border pass can be obtained, for a small fee of course. ( which I have heard can be extended within laos, but i have no experience of that)

I can confirm that too.

Border passes are only any good if you are crossing into the province directly opposite the border. If you travel any further you will require a passport with a valid visa...
